Waino had Bae 0-2 and threw 4 straight balls.
August 22, 2023 at 7:09 pm #232273And, the walked runner scores.
August 22, 2023 at 7:12 pm #232274PNC looks like a nice place to watch a baseball game, but the first thing that comes to mind when I see the playing field and stands of that venue is how Albert Pujols simply looked like he intended to demolish that ballpark every time the Cardinals played there. I don’t think they could have contained him if the Pennsylvania Governor had mobilized that state’s national guard.
August 22, 2023 at 7:20 pm #232275The homer ties it, but stranded another RISP. Very inefficient offense tonight. Hope it doesn’t Waino a win.
August 22, 2023 at 7:22 pm #232276It’s a lost season and I’m watching a game between two teams that are playing each other to avoid last place, but at least it’s game between two age old and long time NL teams who are division rivals and not some dog and pony show like a game with the A’s or even an opening day game against an AL team that resides in Canada. I should have known this season would be a bizarre one when we opened against the Blue Jays…At any rate, both these teams have been around for a minute or two and a game between the Cardinals/Pirates at least seems like an authentic Big League regular season game.
August 22, 2023 at 7:31 pm #232277Wheels coming off in the 5th. That will do it for me for this one. Good luck.
August 22, 2023 at 7:33 pm #232279The Pirates are now beginning to start with the elderly abuse…That’s a shameful crime.
August 22, 2023 at 8:33 pm #232283Three have been ejected tonight.
Contreras
Marmol
WalkerHome plate umpire issues.
August 22, 2023 at 8:44 pm #232286Now at the low water mark of 17 under. That’s too bad.
August 22, 2023 at 8:47 pm #2322871-11 with RISP is more of an issue than the home plate umpire. Ollie probably won’t want to talk about that.
August 22, 2023 at 8:50 pm #232288He’ll look down at his crib notes and recite the drivel that’s scrawled on them like he does after every game. It’s the only way he can remember what happened.
August 22, 2023 at 8:51 pm #232289What he won’t say is we lost because we suck. But we do suck, and not just the pitching.
August 22, 2023 at 9:15 pm #232292I keep saying this team is abysmal when they need a hit. Yet nobody ever talks about the hitting coach.
August 22, 2023 at 9:20 pm #232295Ollie is as good as gone. There simply is no way the Cardinals can start anew in 2024 with him still at the helm. And of course this cankor sore of a season is not all Ollie’s fault, but the characteristic that stands out most to me is his inability to right the ship. Over the course of 162 games, all ML ships teeter back and forth at times, but most get back on track.
August 22, 2023 at 9:23 pm #232296Not all of it’s his fault. Just the leadership part. And leadership is important.
August 22, 2023 at 9:58 pm #232298I don’t think Mo is going to make a change at manager.
Since the trade deadline they are just playing out the string and having a look at some guys to help them decide what to do during the off-season. Getting a few players a head start on 2024.
They are pretty much just going through the motions at this point.

Haven’t watch a game there, but walked around the stadium last November and it has some neat features. Heck of a view of downtown too.
August 22, 2023 at 10:15 pm #232301Hitting has been an issue outside a couple guys for several years. Just a bad bad baseball team right now.
August 23, 2023 at 1:12 am #232305Had a bad feeling going into this game. Thought I’d go watch the Chiefs play instead. Well, that did not go well either … they lost 14-3. Ugh!

jj-cf-stlParticipantOur righty bats don’t look as good without our lefties Noot, Gorman and Donovan supporting them in the lineup.
Lefties Palacios and Burly accounted for one-third of our hits last night, and two of the three rbi, but bench players shouldn’t be expected to carry the big contract boys.
If BillyMo trades from the big3 lefty core, this is the sad lineup we will be left with next season.
August 23, 2023 at 11:46 am #232325Go Cubs.!!!
Lee, don’t make me vomit.
August 23, 2023 at 11:54 am #232326Goldy is still serviceable, even at less than mvp numbers. Here’s to hoping his ops at least starts with an .8 by seasons end.
Serviceable?
He is third on the team in OPS, third in HR, and third in RBI. I have said it before and will say it again I think Goldy is viewed through the prism of high expectations, mostly because of history and salary. If he was putting up these numbers making $5M per year instead of $25M per year we would be saying “wow what a marvel at age 35 (soon to be 36) he is”.
