It is weird to be thinking Matz is going so we should have a good chance, but its true.

Can never remember a Sunday during any season without a game. Unless it was during the break. How did this happen?

The balanced schedule says that you only play your “geographic rival” four times, two at home and two away. Now why they scheduled one of the two game series on a weekend I have no idea.

A possible explanation would be that the balanced schedule says that it’s experiencing an overt and serious chemical imbalance in the core of it’s brain that threatens it’s mental stability…Just kidding. Obviously a getaway day is required to offset the long and arduous charter flight from KC to StL so that the Redbirds can be back home and ready for the epic battle with the A’s on Monday. Who would want to take a chance on missing that matchup? At any rate, no game this Sunday.

I see why you’re tired of the night games CIF. Time zone killing you? Somehow for an old guy like me baseball should be played on Saturday afternoon. And be a double header too. Back in the day when we had a AA game in town and the kids were all on teams we would end up spending the whole day at the park. Good discussion on Waino last nights thread. I’m with Bike Mike. Fundamental principle of sports is no one players interests are greater than whats best for the whole team. To the pen. Dominate a full inning and then think about starting a game. Pitchers have very similar stats tonight.

Walker seems to have been relegated to the bottom of the order. Maybe we overshot the mark with the hype and RoY talk. Or maybe he’s just going through normal rookie stuff.

He is hitting .198 since the AS break. What may be more concerning long term is that he is showing a very severe reverse split. On the season vs RHP.273, vs LHP .197. Its only 64 PAs vs lefties, but it is something to watch. His K rate is close to the same, but his walk rate is 7% vs righties and 3% vs lefties. His platoon split was only 30 pts last year in AA, so there is hope.

Speaking of hope, I had hoped he’d be raking by now.

Very unusual to not have a game on a Sunday. There was a time when Sunday’s were the day for two games. In fact, with those four regional rival games it would be cool to schedule those as old fashioned two-for-one double headers.

But it will never happen. Those days are long gone and won’t fit the current business model.

I don’t ever remember an open date on a Sunday. I do know that the Dodgers once wished that there was an open date on a Wednesday during the ’65 WS…

The camera angles while Valazquez was circling the bases on that 2 run tater provided some good looks at the seats at Kauffman Stadium and it looked to me like thay had a nice crowd of red and blue on hand to see two last place teams. Lots of baseball fans in the state of Missouri. Maybe one of these teams can reward them with some winning baseball in the not too distant future.

We were at the food truck park for din din and watched the first few innings on the outdoor big screen.

I looked for the final for the Reds/Pirates game before I saw it was a washout. For a minute there I thought maybe they had a scheduled day off on a Saturday.

Man, Nolan A. has done it all for us this year – both sides of the ball as they say in football. Our club’s MVP. Too bad we have not had the pitching to stay competitive.
