LHP Jordan Montgomery vs. RHP Chris Bassitt
Bally Sports Midwest and KMOX
(and Bally Sports Southeast/Southwest)April 2, 2023 at 10:15 am #215266
jj-cf-stlParticipantBassitt was my #1 FA target over the offseason. That alone should tell you he wasn’t headed here. Lets see how he does vs our plus-plus lineup.
Burleson again in LF? Is Noot not available? Contreras back, batting 5th.

ParticipantWell my cable is ok so far today so going to try to record it n watch later when I get time if I do. Have to mow lawn after grandson goes home so we will see. Nice win yesterday though didn’t get to see it.

April 2, 2023 at 11:32 am #215270Still no Noot but maybe we’ll get lucky again and win without him. Carlson gets a start in CF.
April 2, 2023 at 11:34 am #2152711982 willie……I haven’t mowed yet this spring but probably will in the very near future. First warm day I’ll get the oil and filter on the John Deere changed then mow the high spots.
Din din today will be some roast beef with mashed potatoes, gravy, a couple ears of corn, another piece of the strawberry cream cake, Mt. Dew, and then a couple of 7×50 Cuban Sandwich Torpedo cigars during the rest of the game. The feast begins around first pitch.

April 2, 2023 at 12:13 pm #215274The #STLCards are waiting until after pregame workouts to determine whether Lars Nootbaar (jammed thumb) and/or Giovanny Gallegos (low back pain) will be available today.
The Cards will have a couple of relievers unavailable today, so getting Gallegos back would be a big boost.

April 2, 2023 at 12:16 pm #215275So far our offense is looking to be robust but the pitching is springing all kinds of leaks.
In game 1 the staff gave up 19 hits and we only got 3.1 IP out of our starter.
In game 2 the staff gave up 10 walks and we only got 5 IP out of our starter.None of that is sustainable. We need more out of our starters. If Hicks can’t be sent down to Memphis then perhaps it is time for the Cardinals to find an injury. If Gallegos can’t pitch then they should put him on IL also. We can’t compete with a short bullpen when our starters can’t go even halfway deep into the game.
April 2, 2023 at 12:22 pm #215276By far this Sports documentary is the most interesting I have ever seen…
The devil was the Cardinals

April 2, 2023 at 1:25 pm #215285OMG Donavan AND Burleson go yard??!
April 2, 2023 at 1:38 pm #215286Just tuned in and backed up the rewind feature… The Redbirds are producing taters on a scale of Ore-Ida. Uh oh…It’s early. Need more taters. And some SP’ing…
April 2, 2023 at 1:42 pm #215287Well Dom, looks like it’s gonna be a replay of game 1…(sigh)
April 2, 2023 at 1:43 pm #215288Another stretch the pen game. Monty not good in the 2nd.
Really crappy start to the season by this pitching staff. For some reason I can’t justify, I have felt like Woodford and Matz will be our most effective pitchers, so maybe we’ll see that against Atlanta.
April 2, 2023 at 1:49 pm #215289Don’t know who it’ll be, Euro, but at some point a SP’er’s going to have to turn in more than 5 innings of work or the bull pen may run out steam before the month of May.
April 2, 2023 at 2:08 pm #215291Don’t know who it’ll be, Euro, but at some point a SP’er’s going to have to turn in more than 5 innings of work or the bull pen may run out steam before the month of May.
And we don’t know how great this pen is yet? We waited all year long last season for that middle inning guy to show up, and he never did. You know, a guy that could toss 2 and third innings and only give up one run. If you don’t have that, your starters gotta go deep
April 2, 2023 at 2:13 pm #215293Gorman is a man
April 2, 2023 at 2:14 pm #215294I certainly like this bash-fest. If only somebody would pull Brad Thompson’s plug it would be a lovely day.
April 2, 2023 at 2:19 pm #215295If only somebody would pull Brad Thompson’s plug it would be a lovely day
I’m spared that grief thanks to KMOX radio 🙂
April 2, 2023 at 2:24 pm #215296Monty had a pretty good 4th, now at 72 pitches, so a good chance he’ll make it through 5.
April 2, 2023 at 2:30 pm #215297
stlcard25ParticipantGorman’s first dinger was 446 feet. That’s a rocket for early season.
April 2, 2023 at 2:30 pm #215298I’m liking this offense so far…
April 2, 2023 at 2:36 pm #215299Wasn’t it me who’s been saying al along Gorman will be fine?
April 2, 2023 at 2:51 pm #215301I am glad we didn’t trade Gorman.
April 2, 2023 at 3:09 pm #215303I am pretty sure Stratton has never had a clean inning and never will.
