May 13, 2022 at 3:28 pm #185126Still no Sosa. Cut the man loose so that he can have a chance to be an everyday player. It’s becoming apparent that he is not gonna get a fair shot with the Cards.
May 13, 2022 at 3:43 pm #185128I bet he is in the lineup on Saturday.
May 13, 2022 at 4:09 pm #185129Sosa should go out to the pen and sit with Woody.
May 13, 2022 at 4:45 pm #185130Lookin like Roberson and I think Donovan can play ss. They know Sosa can and Edman came up as ss till he hit the pros.Bet they try all these guys in case DeJong doesn’t make it back. My magic ball sees some infield changes in the near future. These rookies are banking this playing time now which is gonna be like money in the bank.Like Rats said its a marathon-not a sprint.Go Cardinals!
May 13, 2022 at 5:04 pm #185132On the high school basketball team I was part of a club we called the 30/30/30. We were a group of 4 or 5 that only could get game time if we were up 30, down 30, and 30 seconds left. We’ve added Sosa and Woodford to our club. That said I like the potential Donovan brings and understand them giving him and chance and he’s played well so far, but Sosa is consistently getting passed over. I view him as a Aledmys Diaz type anyway, but there is definitely value in that and Diaz has made out a pretty long career of it.
May 13, 2022 at 5:32 pm #185134We’re facing Logan Webb (R) per baseballpress.com
If that is the case, its not going to be easy tonight.
May 13, 2022 at 5:46 pm #185137Great post Cards667! I too was part of a similar basketball club. I played all 3 major sports in high school, but basketball was by far my most favorite sport at the time. But I had a big problem in that no matter how much I practiced, I still pretty much sucked at the sport. I practiced year round. Anytime it snowed, I immediately shoveled the driveway off, so I could shoot hoops for hours on end…..day and night. My first practice for the JV team(Brush high school just outside Cleveland….Steve Stone’s H.S.) was a quite demoralizing experience in that over 50 kids were trying out for the team’s 15 man unit. It was obvious from the start that I was totally outclassed from a talent point of view. Up to that point, I had never wanted anything more than to make that team. I hustled like a maniac everyday in practice. I wish I could recapture that internal elation, as I was taking my nightly 2 mile walk home, right after the practice where I learned that I had made that team.
Din-din tonight was chipped beef over white toast, fries and 3 Popeye’s apple cinnamon pies. Go Birds!
May 13, 2022 at 5:54 pm #185139Din din is BLT on toasted sourdough rye, ceasar salad, watermelon for desert.
We need some serious thumpage from the lineup tonight.

ParticipantDonovan has really taken advantage of his last 3 starts at SS.
3 for 7, couple of doubles and a HR.
3 BB and 2 K
Play the hot bat!May 13, 2022 at 6:14 pm #185141I am going with my standard Friday night fare of organic cheese pizza, several red grapes, a small chocolate brownie, and a large glass of diet Mountain Dew.
I am not sure what to make of this team yet. It seems reminiscent of last year’s team but I think we will get better once Waino and Flaherty get back. I think Yepez is here to stay and it is just a matter of time before Gorman gets the call.
We really need to win two out of three this weekend.
May 13, 2022 at 6:37 pm #185143Din-din today was a center cut rib chop in the air fryer, some Bush’s baked beans with onions, some Lay’s bar-b-q potato chips, and a big piece of the Strawberry Pie I bought out at Lakeview, the Amish restaurant north of town that sits on the lake. Along with a Sunkist Orange.
Me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch for this one. Along with a couple of 7×50 Palma Real Presidente Cigars and a big stadium hot dog for my late night snack.
And speaking of Whitey Herdog, I stopped at the vet’s office today and got her that little box of six (6) chewable tablets for fleas. Cost $100. Can you imagine that??? Six tablets for fleas cost $100?????

May 13, 2022 at 8:59 pm #185150Looking for something good to say about this game tonight but so far its all Giants. Hicks is doing ok I guess as we kill every scoring opportunity with hitting into double plays. Our only score was Edman walk rbi in by Goldy- our first 2 abs.
May 13, 2022 at 9:00 pm #185151Perhaps it is because no one has posted about the game that the Cardinals were no-hit until the fifth inning? 😉
Update: Thanks, Wooster!
May 13, 2022 at 9:42 pm #185155‘3 Popeye’s apple cinnamon pies’
And didn’t have Popeyes Chicken? Something mentally irregular there.

ParticipantJust not hitting well tonight. But it’s become common. You can’t really put it on any couple of players really. It’s pretty much everybody. I will say the giants seem to always have good pitching and it’s always close with them.
May 13, 2022 at 9:54 pm #185157McFarland is throwing batting practice here in the 8th. He has certainly not been the same pitcher as last year. 8-1 Giants.

ParticipantI don’t know why they keep trotting McFarland out there this year. Yea he was great last year, but not this year and we are in this year. They underuse Woodford and overuse McFarland. Just lots of things wrong here, can’t just blame players, coaching is not good.
May 13, 2022 at 10:17 pm #185159I know I’m beating a dead horse here, but this OF sucks offensively. There is not a replacement in Memphis. I would hate to move him off 2nd but Edman is the only decent hitting player available for the OF. Play him in left and rotate the other three hoping a couple of them can get it together. Hell maybe give Gomez a shot. He could hit .220 – 240 like what we have does. Redo the infield using Sosa, Donovan, Gorman. s—tcan Dickerson, and hope that the shakeup gets this Team going. We have reverted to the 70’s. Only 5 players hitting .250 or better. Terrible.
And yes McFarland is becoming Andrew Miller at a younger age.

ParticipantWell we throw Woodford in another meaningless inning. He should have been in there in the 8th, not just trying to get the game over. Of course he’s struggling a bit but maybe he is frustrated as well.
May 13, 2022 at 10:28 pm #185161Woodford doesn’t have the eye popping stuff. But he executes Pitches. Shame he’s not used.

ParticipantThe Cardinals are really trying to drum up runs now. Ball was clearly foul.

ParticipantWell that does it. Move on to tomorrow
