12:15 p.m.
LHP Steven Matz (2-1, 5.27) vs. RHP Carlos Carrasco (1-0, 1.47)
BSM // KMOX // WIJR
Also BSSO and BSSW+April 27, 2022 at 8:48 am #183616Pork chops, mashed potatoes and corn, plus cornbread slathered with butter. That oughta do it for a Cardinal change of pace doncha think? Perhaps I’ll finish off with a piece of apple crisp topped by a scoop of vanilla I scream. Rah Cardinals!
April 27, 2022 at 8:58 am #183617If that din-din doesn’t turn the tide of our recent Cards’ losing ways, then nothing will do the trick, Cardinal In France. Our compliments to the chef(Mrs. Cardinal In France).
This Carrasco fellow can be one tough cookie. But I don’t picture us getting swept in this series. I feel compelled to call this one 6-3 Birds. We need a win badly.
April 27, 2022 at 12:32 pm #183624Maybe today is the day they break out. Having air fryer wings and they are awesome.
April 27, 2022 at 12:43 pm #183628That was a very catchable ball.
April 27, 2022 at 12:46 pm #183630Big hit for Dickerson. Yes TON should have caught that ball.
April 27, 2022 at 1:01 pm #183631Matz is fooling nobody.
April 27, 2022 at 1:03 pm #183632Matz with his second meltdown of the season. Already at 60 pitches through two innings.
April 27, 2022 at 1:04 pm #183633Matz is pretty famous for the meltdown inning. This is what we signed up for.
April 27, 2022 at 1:59 pm #183635They’re alive! They’re breathing!
April 27, 2022 at 2:12 pm #183637Woodford a 1,2,3 inning. Shame he’s not used. His stuff isn’t good enough for the stat heads.
April 27, 2022 at 2:14 pm #1836388 runs and still no homers!
No problemo, as our boys have touched up Carrasco & Co. for 8 big ones thru 4 1/2. Hang on to this 8-4 advantage. Wouldn’t that be absolutely awful to lose this one. Looking good so far.
April 27, 2022 at 2:22 pm #183639That Thompson guy is driving me nuts. He just never shuts up!
April 27, 2022 at 2:28 pm #183641Man look at that outfield! What a coupla throws!
April 27, 2022 at 2:29 pm #183642Woodford the beneficiary of two outfield assists in the 6th inning to keep them off the scoreboard. Carlson’s throw to 3rd base was El Perfecto. I’m busy with work right now, but I’ll try to slide in a score now and then.
Cards 8
Mets 4April 27, 2022 at 2:35 pm #183643Genesis (pronounced “Hen-a-sis”) “Cabby” Cabrera is warming up with purpose out in the Redbird bullpen.
April 27, 2022 at 2:39 pm #183644Arenado a ground rule rbi double to left to make it 9-4 and that right there will inspire NY to make another pitching change.
Shreve on for the Mets to face Albert with one out and Arenado at 2nd.
Albert strikes out on a high inside hard one. We cannot take this 5 run lead for granted….we need only reflect back to the 9th inning on Monday night to see how quickly 5 runs can be put on the board.
Carlson infield single on a hard hit grounder up the middle that McNeil smothered, but had to put in his hip pocket. Arenado drifts over to 3rd on the play.
PDJ strikes out.
Cards 9
Mets 4April 27, 2022 at 3:28 pm #18364514 hits through 7 innings. And DeJong is 0-4 today with a strikeout. He is digging his own grave. I wonder if they will try and trade him? I hear Boise has some pretty good potatoes, maybe they’d swap us a sack for DeJong?
Oh, lest I forget. Din-din today was the weekly trip to the Gasthof, the Amish restaurant. Meatloaf, fish, mashed potatoes, brown gravy, green beans, dressing, baked carrots, some cherry cobbler and a bowl of vanilla soft serve ice cream.

April 27, 2022 at 3:37 pm #183646So why does nobody from the Mets get tossed?
April 27, 2022 at 3:42 pm #183647Pleasantly surprised to see Cards up 10-5 when I got in today. McNiel just got ankle hit by Cabrerra and Arrenado dodges one to the head first pitch next inning. Got to see a team scrum.Replay guys say Alfonso got rolled on the ground in the scrum.Pretty funny after his performance last night. Nado got thrown out. Bunch of CS umps left the pitcher in.Broadcast guys talking smack. Best thing to do now is win out this game. Read something this morning with Mets pitcher saying the ball is different this year and thats why so many people are getting hit. Could be seems like a pitcher would know. He needs to educate the rest of his team I guess. Not a good message to leave Lopez in. Broadcasters need to be tied to a post and pelted with fastballs. Din-din is pork chops-home fries and some kind of vegetable.
April 27, 2022 at 3:54 pm #183648Ryan Helsley is just pumping gas this year. Gio looking over his shoulder perhaps?
April 27, 2022 at 3:59 pm #183649Umps were idiots the MEts pitcher was intentionally throwing at Arenado’s head and should have been tossed talk about a brainless ump crew!
April 27, 2022 at 5:10 pm #183652I still remember (after 40+ years) Jim Bouton in his book “Ball Four” talking about hoe when fights broke out he would find someone on the other team he knew and they’d grab each other and roll around on the ground laughing.
For you young guys, it is an old book but well worth reading for a first hand player account of inside baseball
April 27, 2022 at 5:55 pm #183654Hopefully we are about done with the PDJ experience. Would have been a fun game to see.
April 27, 2022 at 6:04 pm #183656Good to see some crooked numbers today. Had Helsley pitched the ninth Monday we likely win 2 of 3.
If I am managing I give Sosa the next month at short. But I understand personalities and front office persuasion. But would like to see Sosa get back in there like last year when he had steady time to get into a routine. PDJ continues his career trajectory downward trend.
