There, now Dickerson has a can-o-corn, a moon shot, and a wounded duck.

Dickerson has raised his OPS by 60 pts today. DeJong – 40 pts & Romine 90…

Neil Pallante once again keeps Washington off the scoreboard in the 6th and he has notched a mere 69 pitches thru 6……now that’s efficient pitching.

Teach that little guy how to pitch left handed, Willie……never too early to start.

Yeah, Pallante has been hitting the corners and top or bottom of the zone. As soon as he tires and starts throwing meatballs Ollie better get him out so we don’t blow the lead again.

Here in the 7th inning, Neil Pallante slices through the heart of the Washington order with the greatest of ease without incidence….still 5-0 Good Guys.

Nobody is certainly looking to anoint Neil Pallante as the next Greg Maddux just yet, but he sure resembles him on the mound today…..so much so that they could pass as identical twins….. pitching wise.

Left Gorman out there all by himself.

I have always liked Pallante. This is his best game as a pro. I was hoping we’d trade for 2 starters and a reliever, and move Pallante to the pen. Now maybe we keep Pallante in the rotation, and maybe try and get a quality starter, and 2 relievers.

No surprise here as Neil Pallante works a perfect 8th. On the day he’s now struck out 8 and walked only 1, allowed no runs and just 3 hits and has needed a mere 93 pitches to do it. Complete game shutout anyone?

I wonder how much different both these teams rosters will look when the Nats come to St Louis.

Pugsley, so far he hasn’t really shown a lot of interest though he is only 3 and a half months. His dad likes skateboarding so I think hes going to impress that upon him which will be fine. I’ve always liked to watch it but you never know, I might get a chance to play some catch with him.

Would be nice if pallante can get a shutout here. But I think he may be coming out, getting into a bit of trouble. I liked pallante in spring but he’s even impressed me more as the season has went on. Solid pitcher.

Should be a very noticeable difference, Cardinals27. Hopefully we have a couple new players with….. getting ready here for the bottom of the 9th so let’s stay with the action shall we?

Barrera sends a little sinking liner out towards 2nd base….that Gorman cannot handle ….that will go as an infield single…..tough play, but he definitely could have fielded it

Lane Thomas whacks it down the 3rd baseline and into the left field corner and that will go as a double with Barrera stopping at 3rd base…..oh oh….Ollie is coming after him…..and that will do it for Neil.

    Pitching change:

Ryan Helsley on for St. Louis

Hernandez on 3-2 strikes out swinging.

Juan Soto…..dream confrontation here…. let’s hope it turns into a nightmare for the batter….Soto strikes out looking on a 102 mph heater that catches the outside corner and Soto better pray he gets traded to St. Louis so he never has to face this Helsley fellow ever again.

Bell ….ring em up, Helsley! He flies out to center to end this ballgame.

    Your wondrous final score:

    St. Louis Cardinals 5
    Washington Nats 0

A nice, well rounded win. Good to see Pallante go deep into the game and save the pen a little. That was very needed.

Yep, it was a meatball right down broadway that did Pallante in. Really a well played game by our side.

And now for the big post game announcement. Or maybe not.

Just thinking here if I was Neil Pallante……in this situation with a 5 run lead in the 9th and with the brilliant way I was pitching all day….when I saw Ollie coming for me I think I would have ran…..maybe to the outfield or down the 3rd baseline, but I wouldn’t have let him take me out. No disrespect intended for my skipper but sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.

Marmol did the right thing in taking him out. If helsley blows a five run run lead that’s on him. If you leave pallante in and it’s get away, that’s on marmol.

Oli deserves credit for letting Pallante start the 9th. He let him go for a complete game. A single and double later Oli had to pull him.

    Helsley preserved an excellent GS.

I’m really quite thrilled with Pallante today. Looks like we did something right. Great to see good results. He was only 2 years in the minors and had 3 yrs of college ball. If some others come out as well as Pallante we will be set. Hope its not just today as we shall see. Another kudos to DeJong. Homers on 2 consecutive days. Mama I got my swing back! Must to be hard coming back when so many doubt you. A personal victory I suppose. Hope it sticks this time but you’ve got to enjoy it today.
    Go Cardinals!
