This Bender looks like he would be tough to pick the ball up for a hitter. I wonder if this is the first “Bender” in the bigs since the great Chief Bender back in the deadball era.

Have you watched Noot this year? He’s had one good swing the entire year and looks super uncomfortable at the plate.

Seems like there have been several “Brian Andersons’s” in the big leagues. Don’t walk a guy hitting .077.

Gallegos channeling his inner Cmart. I’d have been happy with a 1-2-3.

Didn’t the Cards used to have a prospect catcher named that? Back in the day before I started following prospects at all really.

Its a winner! Drama again at the end but not a meltdown. No walks in the 9th inning please
Recipe for disaster. Good pitching tonight wins it!

Couldn’t sleep. Got up and turned on the game just in time for the 9th inning. What a satisfying finish. Rah Cardinals!

Like I said, these are very satisfying games when you win them. Nice work by the staff and the offense did just enough. Or more appropriately, Arenado did just enough. It’s a game of inches. Well done, Cards.

Well had to record it again. Overall I thought the lineup was fine. I still think Albert should be in the lineup more. You take one of your best hitters and replace him with a weaker hitter, along with a bunch of other struggling guys and it ain’t going to be pretty. I will say I don’t think it would have mattered, their pitcher was top knotch. Mikolas was good as well. I have to agree with Edmonds on the arenado homer. That situation calls for your outfielders to play deep. Would he have caught it, can’t say but would have been easier. Still a win is a win. Let’s go for sweep tomorrow.

Missed the entirety of this beautiful 2-0 Cardinal triumph. I’ll go back and watch the tape shortly. Without further chitchat, here are tonight’s awards:

PG (Player of the Game) – Nolan Arenado

DDD (Din-din of the Day) – We had some nice tasty din-din delights for this affair, compliments of The Hammer, Bling, BicycleMike and the esteemed Rat, but in a close call at the plate, Wooster’s creese with broccoli stuffed tender chicken breasts, REAL baked potatoes, buttered corn on the cob and butter pecan pie, takes home the prize.

Nice outing by Mikolas, GmSc of 64. No walks was enjoyable to watch, and 69% strikes. He needs to take PDJ to dinner after all those 6-3 putouts.

Pallante rewarded the manager for the faith he showed in him. Well done rook.

The Cardinal prospect Bryan Anderson was a 4th rd pick and a lot of people saw his lh bat as a compliment to Molina. He hit fairly consistantly but I don’t think he was well regarded behind the plate. In 2010 when he was prob at apex of prospect status, Jason LaRue had the backup job with the big club. In 2011, it was Gerald Laird and Tony Cruz. Anderson eventually aged out and signed FA deal with White Sox but never amounted to much.
