For those of you that missed it the Dodgers trailed the Giants 5-2 with two on and two out in the last of the 9th last night. Backup catcher Austin Barnes hits a two out, three run homer to tie the game 5-5. Then Pujols sends a long flyball to LF that would have been a homerun but the Giants LF Tauchman jumps and reaches over the fence to haul it in. It would have been a game ending dinger for Pujols. Giants then won 8-5 in ten innings.

Weather is poor here in SW Indiana today. Temps are really cool, chance of rain. Weather is supposed to be better for the Indianapolis 500 tomorrow, however. But I’ll probably stay home tonight and watch Charles Stanley and then watch the Cards/DBacks. This Frankoff guy has a 7.27 ERA so maybe we can finally have a game that doesnt go to the wire like the first two.

9:10pm starts are brutal. For BW it’s 10:10pm.

I hope we get 8 IP Adam rather than 4 IP Adam. Maybe he will get some run support for a change.

Yep, these late starts put most of us down for the count in about the 5th inning ….except those two night owls Booyah and Willie. These days you never quite know whether you’re going to get Jeckyl or Hyde on the hill when Waino gets the nod. And for a fellow his age, that’s perfectly understandable and acceptable. I just played a short round of Spin the bottle and it says Waino is going 6 strong this evening, surrendering 3 runs on 6 hits.

Din-din for me on this fine Saturday is shaping up to be some sort of fresh perch and bluegill entree that the mother-in-law is concocting. I hope it doesn’t resemble the last din-din she prepared, where my white German Shepherd was the unlucky recipient of mucho grande handouts snuck his way under the table cloth.

How often do you face a pitcher who will turn 33 years old this season and has so far pitched 13 innings in MLB? He kicked around the minors forever and recently spent a couple in Korea where he did well in 2018 and ok in 2019. Not at all sure how he manages to be where he is right now, but good for him, until first pitch.

Cubs lead the Reds 7-2 in the 8th at Wrigley. Cubs will move back into a tie with St. Louis pending the outcome of the game tonight. First place will once again be on the line. The Reds were terrible in this one. Throwing balls away, not covering the bag, walks. They basically gave this one to the Cubs. Eugene Sewers is a bust at shortstop, no doubt about it.

My din-din was the last center cut rib chop in the air fryer, the last of the baked beans, and a piece of strawberry cream pie and a bowl of homemade ice cream. And water. My evening din-din will be nothing more than a couple pieces of Eckrich thick Bologna and some more pie and ice cream.

Me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch tonight tuning in for this one. After we watch Charles Stanley, of course. We’ll have a couple of cigar during the game too. The only question is whether late tonight I’ll be too tired or not to watch an episode of Mannix after the game.

Needless to say I will not wait up until 4:10 a.m. for tonight’s (or tomorrow morning’s) first pitch. I’ll have to wait til Sunday’s breakfast of tea and croissants to find out if that hot Cubbie breath on the back of my neck has been transformed into an even less pleasant wind in my face. Let’s continue instead to lengthen that rattlesnake losing streak.

    Rah Cardinals!

By the way, the veal filet, new potatoes and peas din-din went down well tonight, as did the follow-up mousse-au-chocolat.

I immensely dislike these late starts too. I’ve only watched bits of games lately but it would be nice to have the option. If Waino is decent, the Cards should have a great chance to win their 4th in a row. I’ll say he is good and Tyler O’Neill jacks his 3rd home run in as many games to back the offense in a 6-1 win.

How can Fernandez be optioned down on Friday and recalled on Saturday?

Injury replacements don’t have to wait the 10 days.

I guess they used Moroffs injury to recall Fernandez? I guess I incorrectly thought Fernandez would have to replace an injured pitcher.

    Oviedo to the taxi squad…..
Does he have the same 10day optioned down rule? Or can they shuffle these players as they want?

I would guess that the Moroff injury was to bring up Fernandez and the Mikolas 60 day move allowed Rondon to be added and brought up.

Agree on the Mikolas / Rondon transaction because 60day IL’s don’t count against the 40man.

Why is Williams in the lineup???

Then again, he’s not any more useless than what Carpenter is.

By the way, in the 1951 version of “The Day The Earth Stood Still” the alien called himself Mr. Carpenter. Wonder if there’s any relation?

I don’t know Rat, but if memory serves, Mr. Carpenter got in his flying saucer and left.

How did moroff get injured. Did I miss something.

Clearly, he subluxated his shoulder, Willie. My guess is that’s a fancy way of saying they needed an injury for the roster situation so they took a guy with a sore spot and used the most medical sounding term they could find.

He was in the batting cage and his bat caught the netting on the backswing.

I guess stlcard25, I knew I didn’t see him injure anything though I hadn’t been able to watch all innings lately due to late games.

I like us putting all these runs up against Arizona but to be honest they are pretty horrible though at times we haven’t been much better. I guess we have to beat up on these really bad teams hope for the best otherwise til something changes.
