Man, missed an opportunity there. O’Neill’s AB got off track when he let the 2-0 go. That was the pitch to hit in that AB. Once he did that he swung defensively afterwards and was over matched.

I was surprised the Crew stayed with the lefty after the Carp walk. But he got through it. Speaking of Carp, he had a pitch to drive on 1-0, and let it go. Like O’Neill, those guys are missing good pitches and it is causing them to lose the advantage. Suter lost the zone after that with Carp and he ended up with the BB, but you gotta be ready for those high-potential-contact pitches and jump on ’em.

I understand the sentiment but what are O’Neill’s bunting skills like?

Great inning by Cabrera! We all would love to see a couple of runs here to give us some flexibility in the 9th.

Let’s hold on for 3 more. Shaw is out of the way. A run would be big here. Someone go deep .

Hammerfist… the bunt has become a lost art. But laying down the bunt at that time and esp with the speed of O’Neill… might be a base hit because you know the crew wouldn’t expect him to bunt. That also puts other teams on alert. Now I’m mostly talking about late in games where the offense has been MIA for the most part so any run would be big.

Tommy Edman does not take an at bat off. Ever.

Yeah great point about O’Neill’s speed and I love how StL is zigging while everyone else zags in today’s game. Good fundamental bunting is still an integral part of the game and the Cards still play “the right way”.

I understand trying to hold the runner on first to preserve the DP but my goodness THAT can’t happen.

The SB and hit and run has become a thing of the past.. and it’s because of the increase in Strikeouts.

Hopefully Alex throws strikes. He would be untouchable with more command. As it is, he is still pretty darn good.

Another thing about today’s baseball is pitchers play around to much instead of going after the hitter. To concerned about location .

2 out 2 on and the Cards up by 2. What will happen?

Answer… we win. Great series win… a tough one at that. The starting pitching pitcher was amazing for both sides.

Great win. Always good to get away with a series win in Milwaukee, especially when Woodruff and Burnes pitch two of the games.

Flaherty really stepping up as the ace. Edman makes things happen, and Arenado has made this team probably 15-20% better than last year’s group. He is a big improvement in the middle of the order.

If we ever get some consistency from O’Neill, Bader or someone else, and Goldy gets up to his production of the last couple of years, we will be right there in September.

Difference in the series was our pitchers bending but not breaking. And our hitters late inning timely hits.

Not sure how the rotation will look after MM is back…or how long CMart is out for. I would assume Gant would go to the pen or maybe even put Kk down there to establish a strong lefty which we don’t have right now.

Good to see that MIL no longer has Jacks number. When our good pitchers pitch good, we can beat anyone. I really believe that.

jj.. I believe that as well. I don’t like to use the phrase World Series preview esp in early May but I think the series against the Sox in a couple weeks is a strong possibility.
