Don’t really know what carlson was doing there, got lucky
April 19, 2021 at 7:08 pm #158613Flaherty doesn’t look like he is nibbling. He is just flat out missing his targets. Hoping he loosens up as it warms up.
April 19, 2021 at 7:12 pm #158614Dejong works a walk! Seems to be seeing the ball better. Carp singles in a run! Shocker! But he runs into an out at second. Guess he’s not used to being on base, but then Carpenter has never been a good base runner.
April 19, 2021 at 7:12 pm #1586151982 willieParticipantWell carpenter got a hit, but I would have rather he stayed at first. I guess it had been so long he just couldn’t contain himself.
April 19, 2021 at 7:17 pm #1586161982 willieParticipantNice bunt, doing some good things tonight.
April 19, 2021 at 7:23 pm #158617Replays of Carpenter appear like he made a fantastic slide to get around the tag but not enough evidence to overturn it. Williams looked like he knew they were going to try to get him to chase with pitcher on deck and did a good job laying off and accepting the walk.
April 19, 2021 at 7:44 pm #1586181982 willieParticipantNice knock Dejong, blows this game open.
April 19, 2021 at 7:45 pm #158619Game…set….& match….10-2 Birds compliments of Paulie.
April 19, 2021 at 7:53 pm #158620Wow, Williams looked in control in that at bat before a rocket shot over cf wall. I haven’t seen a card lefty tatoo a ball like that since Gerald Perry
April 19, 2021 at 7:55 pm #158621Like I’ve been saying, we may never lose again.
April 19, 2021 at 8:01 pm #158622Williams homer 109+mph at miniscule 20 percent launch angle
April 19, 2021 at 8:05 pm #158623I’ve been on a phone call the last hour or so and just had the game on mute. Heck of an attack tonight by our boys. Hopefully they don’t get too complacent and attack Corbin tomorrow.
April 19, 2021 at 8:06 pm #158624Now is the time to let Edman get a rest and put Hurst in Cf
April 19, 2021 at 8:15 pm #158625Paul Dejong has raised his OPS from .640 to .818 and his wRC+ from 85 to 126 tonight. Big difference.
April 19, 2021 at 8:17 pm #158626Justin Williams went from 46 wRC+ to 92 wRC+, nearly average.
April 19, 2021 at 8:20 pm #158627Harrison is just a Cardinal killer. Seems like they can never get him out.
April 19, 2021 at 8:21 pm #1586281982 willieParticipantArenado boots an easy ball. Kind of odd.
April 19, 2021 at 8:23 pm #158629Flaherty’s ERA is taking a pounding this inning. Thankfully he’s getting excellent run support.
Edit-On second note, looks like the runs are unearned thanks to the Arenado error. So his stats look ok but he did finally manage to struggle out of the 6th.
April 19, 2021 at 8:53 pm #158630Cabrera did a great job to wiggle out of second and third, noone out.
April 19, 2021 at 8:54 pm #158631I gotta ask, What is a pinch hitter doing swinging at a crappy 3-0 pitch. Come on Nogowski, this is the major leagues! Get that run in.
April 19, 2021 at 8:57 pm #158632Harrison tried his superhuman stuff against the Cards again but it was to no avail…Goldy gets the run in. We need all the cushion we can get with Ponce coming in.
April 19, 2021 at 9:09 pm #158633Big night for the bats. Now for the real challenge, can they keep it going tomorrow? Hopefully so. Also a pitcher finally goes 6 innings.
April 19, 2021 at 9:19 pm #158634Does Flaherty get credited a quality start?
April 19, 2021 at 9:20 pm #158635Arenado boots an easy ball. Kind of odd.
Let’s hope we never slap the nickname “Errornado” on our new 3rd baseman. Not likely.
April 19, 2021 at 9:31 pm #158636Good to get the win tonight. Hopefully we can get guys like Dejong and Williams going, as that will take a little pressure off Goldy, Arenado, Yadi and Carlson to carry things. Good offenses don’t have everyone clicking all the time, but a couple players able to carry the load for a few games, then another couple step up and you hope your big names stay relatively “on” all year. Need to end the practice of having a big game and then being shut down tomorrow.
