I know Arenado has a really good average with runners in scoring position. But one thing is for certain – he isnt much of a clutch hitter. He has had many, MANY opportunities this year to produce and, for lack of a better term, failed.

If we trailed 4-3 in the last of the 9th, two outs and a runner at 3rd, Arenado would absolutely be the LAST person I would want to see come up to bat.

Rat, Matt Carpenter or Pauly D would be mine. To avoid frustration I would probably turn the game off if it was one of them at the plate.

Their starter 0-1 sounds like we may see multiple pitchers tonight. We may see one come in cold? Lotta hits last night and still scored zip. Don’t get Bader starting after DeJung anymore but Pauli did get a hit last night. Both have been dead in the water.Sad last night to see Mikolas hit better than DeJung when we had a chance to score
Maybe they will both have a breakout day today!

Happ will probably be ok against the AAA Pirates.

The Cardinals have generally taken care of business against the dregs – can’t win every game even against poor teams – but at this point losing to a bad team is certainly magnified when you’re chasing.

I would say there’s a very good chance that neither one of them will be in St. Louis next year. It’s almost a given that Carpenter is gone. And I am afraid that DeJong is going to play himself out of a job the rest of 2021.

I think arenado has been a disappointment with runners on as well though I think goldy has been equally as bad. Oneil has come on this year and we needed those two to step it up all season and to me they have just been average at best in those situations. Dejong has been spiraling down for a while but he’s a near bottom of the lineup guy now so you just have to be happy when he produces. I wish shildt would go with a traditional lineup instead of having our big guys 2-3.

Who are the free agent shortstops that will be on the market for next year? I believe its:

    Seager
    Story
    Baez
    Correa

I’d much prefer either one of them than DeJong.

Make no bones about it, Cy Peters will be one tough cookie this evening. As with all of the great ones, if you’re going to get them you HAVE to touch them up early. I think Lars Nootbaar is the key in this one. As Nooty goes tonight, so will our Birds. I’ll call this one 4-2 Birds with the aforementioned Lars Taylor-Tatsuji Nootbaar finding the cheap seats with bat in hand.

Well so far no good. We are down one. Getting blanked again. If you can’t score on pirates pitching, maybe this whole team should retire.

Bader with a bunch of balls hit hard but foul so they mean nothing. Lots of missed opportunities tonight so far with runners on.

If Nooty had been on 2nd after stealing ut he would have scored on Sosas broken bat hit. If nothings happening then you need to try and make something happen. We’re not good enough to stand on base and hope for a home run.

Teeler O’Neill steals 2nd and scores on the Molina single. Game tied 2-2. I’m not watching but I am on Yahoo Sports. Avocado is 0-3 again.

Our new everyday SS (Sosa) just doubled into leftcenter. Nootbaar came around from 1st to score.

3-2 Redbirds still the last of the 6th.

    C’mon bullpen.

Sorry…. but I hope that Carpenter is better at Building Houses.

It’s a trade that might come in handy.

Sorry for being so Negative…. I’m just tired.

Cabrera pitching with a scowl on his face. Kinda scary looking, a la Gibby.

    What the Heck????

We put a guy on base… just to bring up a guy that just slugged a home run earlier????

Well, that could have gone better. Bases loaded with no out. The Cards manage to score only one run on an O’Neill sac fly. Ugh!

Edmund starts the bottom of the ninth with a single. Can the Redbirds get him home to tie the game?

Another disappointing loss. The Cards have lost eight of their last eleven at home. All at a time they need to be winning at home. Especially against the last place Pirates! Ugh!
