Nice to see Dean’s plate discipline. Lays off those high fastballs and low and away breaking balls. Looks like a nice professional hitter who knows what he’s doing.

Good to get the lead there, but disappointed to not score some more. The lack of speed on the bases there didn’t help as the medium fly ball from Wong couldn’t score a run.

Boy, Lucas Sims’ delivery looks like about the highest effort I’ve seen in a long time.

That pitch to Dejong was, what…6 inches outside? Goodness, what a joke.

Votto ruins Dakota’s no hitter. He’s in scoring position with Babe Suarez having a chance to tie the game.

If I’m Hudson, I’m throwing the 0-2 to Suarez about 6 inches outside to see if you get that gift call the Reds have gotten multiple times tonight.

He missed a HR there by about a hair’s width. Flies out to the track and it stays 2-1.

I think Carp is back on the salsa. He’s got it up over the Mendoza line now.

Dean with a nice game. Two walks and the double. Hopefully he keeps hitting if he gets the chance.

Both Shildt and Mo said they are looking for hot hands. I would guess that means that Carp, Bader and Dean will start again tomorrow.

Might need to get Ravelo back in there soon.

Genesis Cabrera’s broken fingernail problem is apparently back. Still nine more outs to collect with Webb taking over.

Maybe there will be some players who still can pitch left by the end of this month. Hard to say.

Webb got four outs with five remaining for Andrew Miller.

Innings from Webb. Even if it’s mop-up, it has value.

We are having a .lot of issues with our pitchers. Doesnt seem to be a league issue, just a cardinal issue.

I think going with the hot bats is fine but not always. A manager has to look at matchups, what their starter throws most and what his players handle best. Wasnt sure schildt would get bader back in there so soon but good he did. He struck out once but looked good on those last two bats. Hes laying off those breaking pitches a whole lot more.

I guessed wrong. Miller only had to get two outs. Kaminsky to secure the final three outs with a six-run lead.
