    Forsch, those stats back up what the Cards have mostly done for the whole season…get on base at a good clip, but with very little power. 3rd in the NL in OBP and 12th in slugging.

    25, I know it reflects that but it also shows that they are above league average in average and OBP when there are men on base. I would rather see them make contact and put the ball in play. Then hope for the best. Power is not everything.

    Which is what you need to do in order to win the 3-2 type games. Ironically, that plays pretty well in October. But it doesn’t lend itself to crooked numbers, which a team needs from time to time when the pitching is off. I think they should run into some better luck with the bats eventually, but the staff has a very low batting average allowed on balls in play that may run out at the same time.

    Can’t put the whole load on the pitching staff. It will come back and bite you.
