Wow, that Cardinal clubhouse sure looks fancy. I bet the players even have their own showers. A far cry from my old high school facilities where they would herd us all into the same shower room like cattle.
January 16, 2019 at 12:24 pm #80062I wonder if Winter Warm Up events have ever been postponed? This weekend looks bad where I live, Springfield, IL.
January 16, 2019 at 7:03 pm #80081Yes, for example, last year, an ice storm led to at least one, maybe two of the Caravans to be canceled. Either two or three years ago, one entire day of WWU was canceled due to a storm. These cannot be made up because of the many interlocking travel schedules for players.

January 20, 2019 at 8:23 pm #80390“The Rock” plying his trade at 3rd? Sweet! Michael Wacha will be 3/4’s bald in 10 years. Has anyone tossed Carlos Vilora a glove yet??? Dude looks like he could be a player. Out.

January 21, 2019 at 5:12 pm #80432Thanks, Brian, for posting these interviews. I still have a lot left to listen to, but what I’ve heard has been informative and even entertaining at times. Thanks again.
January 21, 2019 at 5:30 pm #80433You are welcome. Different people want to hear different voices, so I try to make them all available. To a man, the players are very upbeat about the season. Molina really caught my attention as he is engaged. My biggest questions are about guys not here – Ozuna, Gregerson, Cecil – though Mo said the latter has really worked hard on getting in better shape.
One hour sessions with the scouting director and farm director are coming this week for members. Randy Flores was especially insightful, going into some detail about how the Cardinals made their top five selections in the last draft and how their decision-making is evolving. So more good stuff ahead…

ParticipantThanks Brian for the written summaries. Flaherty’s time was longest of the players and probably would have been longer than DeWitt’s if the owner didn’t talk about his passion… Ballpark Village, the separate entity.
January 22, 2019 at 9:28 am #80453Thanks. Flaherty shows leadership far beyond his years. My sense is that BPV is much more driven by DeWitt III. Their point in bringing it up at the very end was to reinforce that the big investment for building is not siphoning money away from the player payroll. Personally, I already understood that, but I suspect some others did not, so they made their point.

ParticipantToo bad the $$ from BPV isn’t siphoned over to the payroll.
January 22, 2019 at 9:40 am #80456BPV is in a huge investment phase still as the next phase is under construction. They are spending more than they are bringing in. Later on, that will change, of course. But if there was no such thing as BPV, the player payroll would not change.
