Guess that Conteras homer was the reminder that with the wind blowing out, they can’t rest on their laurels. Gotta keep pummeling Lester and get into that bullpen early.
Jack can’t put Heyward away with the 10 pitch walk and it’s looking like the Cards may end up going to their pen before the Cubs do, even.
I believe the Cards have a policy for these young guys that at a 40 pitch inning they are pulled. If Jack can’t get Contreras out he’s likely done for the day.
Lester is gone in the 4th after loading the bases and getting nobody out. Even though score is 5-1, Cards better capitalize this inning because I have a feeling 5 runs isn’t enough to win it (Wrigley Field, wind blowing out, our bull pen, etc.).
Carp goes from DFA candidate to MVP candidate in less than two months…..ok maybe I’m exaggerating a little but still!
The radar doesn’t look like it’s gonna be that bad there. Maybe a delay but not an all evening storm.

Not sure I agree with the changes for the Cardinals. Pena to catcher, Molina to 1B, Garcia to SS, Bader to LF. There are still 4 innings to play.

Defense has to get better
still got out of it with a GIDP but defense needs to play a part in helping our bullpen
