Mikolas is not being efficient today and the Twins are not helping him. He’s also not getting anything borderline called and his pitch count is skyrocketing. Likely going to be a battle of the bullpens and we all know how that bodes for the Cardinals.

Miles is at 50 pitches through 2 innings. Lynn is at 67.

Cards lead is 3-2. Cardinals could have had a much bigger lead.

Man, I thought Fowler would jump on that 1-0 pitch. Lynn grooved it.

2nd nice at bat by Fowler to draw the leadoff walk.

Interesting question. How much credit would people give to Minnesota’s scouting department for their success against the Cardinals?

Neither hurler has a lot of commamd today. Unusual for Mikolas, from what we have seen, but this has been Lynn’s problem so far this season.

Hey, Bike Mike. Good to see you and Walton still here, but where’s Pugsley?

Lance Lynn just got his 2nd wind and proceeded to strikeout Jedd, after Fowler was caught stealing on a strike looking (which I assume Jedd missed the sign and didn’t bother to even protect Fowler) and then he K’s Carp

Welcome, Carter. Pugs is around regularly, but rarely does play by play anymore.

82 pitches and 3 innings and Lance Lynn’s day is done. All things considered it could have been much worse for him.

The Twins bring in the Cardinal kryptonite, the lefty with a 5+ ERA who proceeds to mow down the Redbirds in order in the 4th to preserve the one run gap.

Thanks Bryan…looks like there’s no “quote” function anymore, and the format is austere. Oh, wait! I just spotted B-Quote How does that work?

Hmmm I misspelled Brian but can’t edit to correct?

Yes, anyone can edit their comments for the first 10 minutes after posting. There is the word EDIT in the dark gray bar to the right of the date/time stamp just above each post.

B-QUOTE puts HTML text ahead of the words you want to quote. Click it and paste in the text. Then to end the quote, hit the same box again. That box now says /B-QUOTE. It will add the HTML to end the quote.

Since you are new here, I suggest you read the thread pinned to the top of the board, called “Questions About the New TCN”. These and other common forum usability questions are answered there. Thanks.

Mikolas pulled with two on and two out in the fifth. Cecil escapes the jam with a K to protect the 4-2 lead. Will he go out there again for the sixth? That is when the trouble began last time.

Like I said, they should have kept Cecil in. 😉

Bowman gives up a solo HR to cut the Cards lead to 4-3 in B6th.

Gyorko with an RBI single to put the Cards up 5-3 in the top of the 7th.

How high does Bowman’s ERA have to go before he comes down with an “injury” for the DL or is shipped to Memphis? Does it have to get as high as Gegerson’s?

Holland makes and leaves a terrible mess for Norris to clean up in the 8th. Hope he hasn’t turned a laugher into tears.
Score is now 7-4 with the bases loaded, one out.

I’m fearful Norris will be worthless come September with the amount of usage he’s getting so far. We still have 2 guys who can’t their jobs done: Bowman and Holland

Norris does it again…a 5-out save this time.

Big game for the slumping veterans. Fowler with two hits, two walks and two RBI and Carpenter with three hits, including two doubles and an RBI. St. Louis wins 7-5 as Hicks gets the win and Norris the save.

St. Louis escapes Minnesota with the split and breaks their three game losing streak to end the road trip 3-3. The Cardinals overall record is 23-17.
