It’s always good to get the first game of a series. Hopefully they’ll keep rolling. Flaherty has been masterful.

However, the injuries keep mounting. Hopefully the Gyorko stint is short and Wacha is ok.

Having to take Wacha out of the game in Springfield is not a hopeful sign. Do the Card’s shelf him for ’18?
Difficult to know until there’s more info on the reason he came out… he was pitching poorly last night and it was AA. My guess is they close him down… trainers on the mound is never a good thing. At this point, if he stays active in ’18, is he going to provide more for the rotation than Poncedeleon? Healthy, yes. Wounded, no.

There’s also the possibility that, with the injuries to our starters, we see Wainwright starting or if the organization does an about face and allows Hudson to get some starts.

Mo has already said that Waino will be a starter when he returns. I’m not sure it’s the worst idea to do that, either. With expanded rosters, we can afford a quick hook.

Wacha made it sound more precautionary, but we will find out more today, I’d imagine.

Memo to Dan and Rick – it doesn’t matter squat how hard Hicks is throwing when He Isn’t Throwing Strikes!!!

DannyMac tends to get obsessed with the radar gun sometimes.

I would like to see Munoz get some extended run in the INF if indeed Gyorko has to be shelved. Garcia shouldn’t be playing everyday.

Munoz and Garcia will probably split time at 2B while Wisdom and Carp split time at 3B with Adams getting the occasional start at 1B.

Does Gyorko going to the DL heighten the Cards need for Josh Donaldson?

If we didn’t go after Murphy then we aren’t going after Donaldson. Besides there are a couple of teams ahead of us in the pecking order that will probably claim him.
