The next 15 games are against the Pirates (two series), Reds, Nats and Tigers. 9 of the games are at home. It’s impossible to ask more of the team than the last few series but if they can play solid, fundamental baseball they can make some hay before a tough closing stretch.

I have been to a lot of Cardinal games, but do not recall one where we basically won the game in the first inning. At Coors, you never feel safe even up 6-0, but then to tack on four more in the 3rd and it just looked like our day.

My old roomie and I ended up wandering up to the Rooftop at Coors, and doing a lot of reminiscing about things and reflecting on our triumphs and tragedies over a couple of cold ones. As a result, I did not see much of the final three innings.

One thing I noted, Munoz looked a lot stockier in person than he seems on television. And he is notably weaker around the bag that Wong. This one was a blowout, but let’s hope Kolten is back there fairly soon as we will need that strong up-the-middle defense in close games.

Carpenter really had it going. The one time they got him out the crowd roared. I little victory for the home folks in the midst of a blowout.

While we are due to cool off, we need to go 10-5 against this upcoming part of the schedule. That should allow us to pick up a couple of games on the Cubs and solidify our Wild Card position.
