A tidy little 6-4-3 LeMahieu twin killing is just what the doctor ordered for Gomber & Company here in the 5th…still 10-2 heading to the 6th.

ParticipantThey score two more. 12-2
August 26, 2018 at 4:14 pm #66926One out base knocks by Jose and O’Neill have the Birds looking to make more noise in the 6th…..let’s pick things up shall we? Both runners move up 90 ft. on a Rusin wild one….not to be confused with a White Russian… DeJong walks to fill the bases to their capacity….1 down. Gyorko bangs a grounder up the middle where Story gloves it, but his flip to LeMahieu is not a successful one and that will go down as an error for the Rockies SS…11-2 bases still juiced. Bader drives one to medium deep right and that will easily score O’Neill with the 12th Redbird run as DeJong cruises safely into 3rd. Munoz grounds it back to the pitcher who will lob her on over to 1st to end the inning……12-2 Birds.

ParticipantGomber is going to be a horse! Can an interim manager win Manager of the Year?
August 26, 2018 at 4:27 pm #66928Bryan Shaw center stage for Colorado here in the Cardinal 7th. Gomber grounds out. Carpenter smokes a deep drive to right!…and it’ll dent the wall and carom right back to the centerfielder, but Carp will check in safely at 2nd with his 4th….count em…his 4th double on the day! Yadi spanks a single to left, but does so with a bit too much authority as Carp cannot advance any further than 3rd base. Jose bounds into a DP to retire the side.
August 26, 2018 at 4:30 pm #66929Ha Ha! Two great points, Wagee! A horse indeed…..let’s think of a name for him….”Gomber’s Gallop” possibly???
August 26, 2018 at 4:32 pm #66931Gomber….Gant….Flaherty….Ponce..all rookies…..we should feel blessed.

jj-cf-stlParticipantIs Leone w/the team?
Nice low leverage situation for him to get his feet wet.August 26, 2018 at 4:41 pm #66935
stlcard25ParticipantReally nice game for the offense today so far. Carpenter in particular with the 4 doubles is making up for lost time. I haven’t been able to watch but getting out of Coors with the series win and a 5-1 road trip would be excellent.
August 26, 2018 at 4:42 pm #66936Leone is coming back? I don’t know if I want a seasoned veteran reliever messing with the great chemistry of this revamped bullpen.
This would be a perfect opportunity to bring him in. I mean the guy had an era over 7 in the minors. What else could you give him based on those numbers?
August 26, 2018 at 4:45 pm #66939Bryan Shaw sets the Cards down in order in the 8th. The only suspense left is if Carp can possibly whack his 5th 2-bagger of the day. I NEVER advocate loafing, but if I’m Carp and I hit a gapper in this kind of a rare situation, I just may not turn the burners on too fast in quest for a possible triple….play it “safe” and hold at 2nd, Carp!
August 26, 2018 at 4:50 pm #66940I’m just not sure I want Leone or any other vet Cardinal reliever from earlier this year coming back and thus possibly messing up what this revamped unit has accomplished over this past month, Booyah. Maybe he should nurse his ailment for another month or so.
August 26, 2018 at 4:52 pm #66941Well Pugs Mr. Rusin wasn’t very impressive. Maybe he should go back to where he came from unless he has some data to steal first. I’m sure his favorite song is putin on the ritz.
August 26, 2018 at 4:55 pm #66942Just one guy needs to reach base here so Carp can bat…just one!
August 26, 2018 at 4:57 pm #66943
jj-cf-stlParticipant1-19-2018
Dominic Leone and Conner Greene for Randall Grichuk.August 26, 2018 at 4:58 pm #66944Sweet, GScott!!
And the Cards have been reaching base in their sleep today, yet cannot put one batter on in the 9th…..oh well there are greater travesties.
August 26, 2018 at 4:59 pm #66945
jj-cf-stlParticipantThe guy who sits with Brad Thompson on the postgame show?
His head is waaay too big for his body.August 26, 2018 at 5:00 pm #66946NJ315
ParticipantDominator does just that! 12-3 Cards your final!
August 26, 2018 at 5:06 pm #66947I believe what we are witnessing goes beyond just a hot streak. I would feel very comfy going into post season play with all of these amazing young players. I still wish we had that one big bopper in the heart of the order….I say that while tipping my cap to our NL leading HR leader. But the sky appears to be the limit for this unit…..and the fun thing…..we do not have to wait until ’19 or ’20 like most of us thought.

ParticipantThey are fun to watch!
August 26, 2018 at 5:13 pm #66949Leone closed the 9th with a 4-pitch inning like he was in a hurry to get somewhere. He also appears to have been on time or early for all chow calls during his DL time.
August 26, 2018 at 6:07 pm #66956PadsFS
ParticipantThis is very similar to the 2011 season to me.
August 26, 2018 at 7:05 pm #66957Very successful 5-1 road trip out west. Nine consecutive series wins.
