stlcard25ParticipantMikolas has a way to just tough it out when he’s not at his best. He’s been such a big get for the rotation. I think the team would be sunk without him this year.

stlcard25ParticipantThree singles with a Dejong fly ball out in between and now Bader is up with the bases loaded. He needs to come through here.
August 13, 2018 at 8:49 pm #65308
stlcard25ParticipantThis game is shaping up a lot like the Pittsburgh series. Constant pressure and a huge discrepancy in base runners but can’t deliver the knockout blow. Bader GIDP on the liner back to the pitcher. Argh
August 13, 2018 at 8:49 pm #65309Cardinals keep blowing opportunities to put this game away
August 13, 2018 at 8:49 pm #65310You can’t do that!
August 13, 2018 at 8:52 pm #65311The missed scoring opportunities are stacking up very high now. Three of the first four batters in the 5th get a hit and nobody scores. Missing the clutch factor at the plate so far tonight.
August 13, 2018 at 9:01 pm #65312Terrible time for Bader to hit into his first DP this season.
August 13, 2018 at 9:04 pm #65313
stlcard25ParticipantLeadoff man on in the 6th and Mikolas hits for himself. That’s different than the usual Shildt strategy. He didn’t get the bunt down though. Carp up with Wong on first.

stlcard25ParticipantCarp went the other way and lined into a double play. I dunno how the stat is calculated, exactly, but he has zero GIDP this season. I don’t really believe in jinxes but that’s pretty, uh, fun timing after Horton mentioned it (and Bader) the last two innings.
August 13, 2018 at 9:12 pm #65316Soto with a oppo homer
4-2 Nats
August 13, 2018 at 9:13 pm #65317Just wonder if we should’ve had a lefty up there.
Now we do
August 13, 2018 at 9:13 pm #65318
stlcard25ParticipantWelp, this one just went half down the tube. Can’t say I liked Shildt’s moves last inning and that will probably cost the game.
I’m always nervous about teams that lose heartbreakers, either to us or other teams. This season the Cards are about 0-10 in those type games.
We really badly needed the first game with our ace against their garbage pitcher. The matchups favor the Nationals getting at least a split if not 3/4 in this series if we can’t come back tonight.

stlcard25ParticipantI love Yadi, but I’ll never really understand his plate approach. Watch two fat pitches down the middle without even lifting the bat, then swings at junk on the corner.
Now Jmart has the same approach I guess. 0-2 fast, right down the middle.
August 13, 2018 at 9:35 pm #65321Yay, we lead in H column 11 to 4.
August 13, 2018 at 9:52 pm #65322Gyorko HR cuts the Nats lead to one. Wong on base with one out in the 8th. Wisdom PHing.
August 13, 2018 at 9:57 pm #65323Carp 3-run HR gives Cards a 2- run lead.
August 13, 2018 at 10:00 pm #65324LOL Yadi now facing a new reliever after Carp’s HR…..none other than Greg Holland.
August 13, 2018 at 10:05 pm #65325THE Greg Holland?
August 13, 2018 at 10:11 pm #65327Norris is messing with trouble here. Not a good start to the 9th
August 13, 2018 at 10:16 pm #65328Norris is going to blow this
August 13, 2018 at 10:16 pm #65329Now get the ground ball!
August 13, 2018 at 10:20 pm #65330Is there anyone else up?
August 13, 2018 at 10:21 pm #65331Still need that ground ball
August 13, 2018 at 10:22 pm #65332Norris chokes away the lead.
August 13, 2018 at 10:23 pm #65333Could have been such a big win
