Now DeJong with a homer! 8-2!
August 12, 2018 at 4:04 pm #65149And Milwaukee loses to Atlanta, allowing us to get another game closer to the wild card should we hold on to win this

ParticipantI may be getting a bit too greedy but if we keep playing like this we do have a shot at the division.
August 12, 2018 at 4:13 pm #65151Hmmm….Webb hits a Royal after 4 Cardinals get hit in one game…
August 12, 2018 at 4:14 pm #65152I may be getting a bit too greedy but if we keep playing like this we do have a shot at the division.
One thing at a time, and the first thing is getting the second wild card.
August 12, 2018 at 4:15 pm #65153Considering the circumstances, I’m calling it a “Web-gem”!
August 12, 2018 at 4:15 pm #65154Maybe the ump should have ejected Royals pitchers about the second time they hit a Cardinal?
August 12, 2018 at 4:16 pm #65155How nice of you to join us, Pugs
August 12, 2018 at 4:18 pm #65156Wonder if Norris is going to plunk a guy now
August 12, 2018 at 4:19 pm #65157Talk about firing BB’s( that’s “Birds Bullpen” to the layman )….. this revamped Cards pen may be the best since…..since last year’s Dodger relief corps.
August 12, 2018 at 4:20 pm #65158Nope, Norris gets down to business and gets a K for the last out of the ballgame! Cards win 8-2 and complete the 3 game sweep!
August 12, 2018 at 4:23 pm #65159
stlcard25ParticipantNice finish to the series! I was a bit skeptical, but everything worked well. Ross was solid and so was the bullpen. Now 63-55.
August 12, 2018 at 4:23 pm #65160Thanks Cardinals2016……just got back from my wife’s best friend’s daughter’s birthday party…..how blasted boring! Sure looks like I missed a dandy of a game.
August 12, 2018 at 4:30 pm #65163I missed something in the brouhaha at the end. How did the hit batsman end up on second base?
August 12, 2018 at 4:36 pm #65164
jj-cf-stlParticipantTyson, Mayers, Webb and Norris all get game action. The bullpen to-do list gets the usage it needed.
Schildt showed some fire with the umps and was instrumental in the win when he started Jedd towards second with Greg batting. For me, the game hinged right there, and Schildts call unlocked the win.

Catcher’s indifference (stolen base without a throw because why bother)

August 12, 2018 at 6:25 pm #65175Another good win today, just would temper it by saying it’s one they should have won anyway. But the trend is definitely in the right direction. This team is fun to watch again.
Webb delivers justice…and gets tossed. No big deal with the ejection, but I’m really glad to see the Cards showing some moxie. That’s been missing all year.
August 12, 2018 at 8:06 pm #65179Home plate ump is a clown plain and simple to throw out Webb there wasn’t just a look at me moment for that idiot. Unreal that he did that freaking moron
August 12, 2018 at 10:08 pm #65184Wow. Nats went into B9th up 3-0 over Cubs. An error, two hit batters and walk-off grand slam turned what could have been a 2-1 series win for Nats into a game and series loss.
August 12, 2018 at 10:30 pm #65187Tyson Ross's start today broke a string of 79 straight games by Cardinal starting pitchers under the age of 30

August 13, 2018 at 4:08 am #65188No chance Webb was intentionally trying to hit the guy. 2 outs and 2 strikes in the bottom 9th.
August 13, 2018 at 5:30 am #65189“Wow” is right Brian. Those cubbies have stung a few teams this year with huge 9th inning comebacks. If they had any kind of starting pitching whatsoever, they would be a very dangerous team.
August 13, 2018 at 6:39 am #65191Of course, Webb hit the batter on purpose. Four Cardinals hit by pitches from three different Royals pitchers, the last of which came in the top of the ninth, and he was defending his teammates. Part of the game.
August 13, 2018 at 8:53 am #65210but with 2 strikes already?
it seems like it SHOULD have been done, but with 2 strikes it feels a lot more like h e was trying to brush him back off the plate on purpose and it just tailed in too far coming from a lefty that isnt too hard to do
