Jack has had ok stuff lately although the walk rate has gone up. What he really needs is an outing going past the 5th. For the first time in a while, it feels like the bullpen is capable of not blowing a game when it’s given to them. So that’s nice. Figure that Poncedeleon, Hicks and Norris probably wouldn’t go tonight? And maybe Hudson is off, but I dunno how the Cards feel about using him back to back days coming off the starters schedule.

It would also be good if the Cards’ offense could score about 11 runs so that the pitching could have some pressure off.

On the Rockies side, Jon Gray has been better since he came back from demotion and his peripherals are good but the results were very bad until recently. Hopefully we can make those results look a little worse again tonight.

Speaking of Carlos Martinez, whats the word on him? Back to the DL? Done for the season? Traded for a sack of potatoes with the other Martinez?

Sigh this team is so bad defensively yet they continue to NOT put best defensive guys in the game stupid bunch running this show!

Munoz getting the day off is good I think

i’d prefer Bader in there for Fowler, but it lines up with them trying to get Fowler going

He is worthless if on the bench i guess, at least if he is playing he might figure it out, his upside is still there and he has been known to get hot…

What am I missing? Carpenter at 1B instead of 3B, Gyroko at 3B (best on team). DeJong at SS (best on team). Garcia at 2B (best on team).

O’Neill is a solid CFer, not Bader good, but average. So the only real downgrade is Fowler or O’Neill from Bader.

Marp leads off the Cardinal first with a dinger to break Brock’s record. 1-0 Cards

Gray is in the middle of the zone a lot. I have a feeling the Cards may do a lot of yard work tonight if it keeps up.

Commercial thoughts…I’m really tired of seeing the same Mastercard commercial over and over every single break.

Parra continuing to make life miserable for the Cards. Eventually we’ll get him out.

I am delighted that Pham is outta there. Too bad Carlos went back on the DL because I think he would have been gone too.

Gray and his 5+ ERA getting his stats in line with his peripherals on our back tonight. Always good to see.

Jack in trouble in the 4th. The first real trouble for either pitcher tonight. Gets the pop out for the second out.

Parra up with a chance to do damage. Jack is nibbling at the corners. It’s strange how all of Flaherty’s starts he seems to be cruising along but the pitch count flies up quickly. It’s looking unlikely that he goes past 5 tonight.

Finally they’re able to retire Parra…out of the inning unscathed.

Gray is on pace to go the distance on about 92 pitches. It’s very similar to the way Anderson pitched us last night.

McMahon doing his best to ensure that Jack will be done after 5. Strike 3 is called ball 4 and he walks. Leadoff walks often cause trouble…

Considering Fowler is a negative both on defense and offense, he is actually worth less on the field than on the bench. He is a detriment to this club. Everybody knows how bad he is defensively, including the players. Do you think teammates will rally around a guy who hustles all the time, or who is last in, first out on game day?

Fowler needs to be benched the rest of the season and during the offseason he can ask for a trade.

Flaherty’s case of homeritis bites him as the Rockies take the lead.

Garcia’s average with runners in scoring position is horrid. He is due for a hit.
