Fowler CF
Voit 1B

July 20, 2017 at 9:04 am #28053Now that’s quite the lineup there. Here’s to hoping Lynn throws a shutout as that’s about the only way we are going to win this one.

ParticipantA Fryer sighting.
July 20, 2017 at 10:07 am #28063Lynn has well outdone his peripherals this year, and hopefully he’ll be able to do the same today. The lineup isn’t quite as bad as it might look at the bottom, but the Mets aren’t throwing an ace at it either. Would be a nice game to win around 6-3.
July 20, 2017 at 11:25 am #28072Fryer has 3 hits in his last 37 ABs. Maybe he can change that today, because there is no apparent thump coming from the last four spots in the order today.
July 20, 2017 at 11:43 am #28076Homerun by Duda in the 2nd and the Mets lead 1-0.
This game is over.
July 20, 2017 at 12:38 pm #28081Lynn has been his typical inefficient self. Probably going to be pulled after the 5th here.
At least Garcia broke up the no hit bid.
July 20, 2017 at 12:48 pm #28082For some reason, Lynn led off the inning at 91 pitches.
A Carpenter walk and a Pham double ties it at 1.
July 20, 2017 at 1:12 pm #28085Lynn threw a lot of pitches in the first two inning, but did well to last six. Card with a chance to do something now with Gyorko pinch hitting and two on, two outs in the top of the 7th.
July 20, 2017 at 1:31 pm #28088Pham homers in the 8th, Cards up 2-1.
July 20, 2017 at 1:34 pm #28089Nice hitting by Pham today. He’s probably the MVP of the season so far.
July 20, 2017 at 1:40 pm #28090There goes our bullpen being our bullpen again. Cecil gives Flores a hanger and Flores didn’t miss. Game tied now.
July 20, 2017 at 1:41 pm #28091Cecil immediately coughs it up. I hate this bullpen and wish we could trade them all for nothing in return.
July 20, 2017 at 1:50 pm #28092Then we give up a pinch hit home run and the game is tied going into the bottom of the 9th with the Mets up…
July 20, 2017 at 2:02 pm #28094OH GREAT ROSENTHAL, THATS JUST GREAT! DONT COVER THE BAG AND COST THE CARDINALS A WIN.
Somebody please – PLEASE – start a Trevor RosenTHAL Trade Thread. He cant get out of town quick enough for me. And take that goomer Cecil with you RosenTHAL.
Geez…………….
Edited to take out the uncalled for name calling. Please stop it or entire posts will be deleted. – Brian
July 20, 2017 at 2:02 pm #28095Painful ending in so many ways. Rosenthal not covering first as the winning run scores.
July 20, 2017 at 2:04 pm #28097Our pen is not only bad, they’re stupid. Rosenthal gives the game away with a walk, a hit and brain stuck in neutral (not covering 1st on grounder)…about what you’d expect, at this point I guess. Seriously, is anybody surprised?
July 20, 2017 at 2:04 pm #28098Ahh…yep. Yet another split after a promising start to the series.
Really disappointing to have the bullpen ruin games again and again and again. But it’s not suprising when you have a bunch of below average arms trying to patch together innings with 91 mph stuff. There are no elite arms besides Rosenthal in the bullpen. That needs to change.
July 20, 2017 at 2:08 pm #28100Does anyone think that a bullpen next year with Hudson, Alcantara, Montgomery, Marco, Sherriff, Weaver and Tui would be much of a step down, if any, from this mess? It’s sad when your minor league options are pretty much a wash with the big league stuff.
July 20, 2017 at 3:06 pm #28109How about we just trade you, if you can’t say their names right just go away and stop your GARBAGE posting.
July 20, 2017 at 5:25 pm #28114How about the offense that was dominated? Granted, some of the starters were rested, but that was not Syndergaard or Harvey or deGrom out there. It was Seth Lugo, for Pete’s sake! With no room to work, the pen has to be perfect, and it cannot be.
Edit: Supporting points added.
Cardinals offense, runs scored: MLB rank #21 (bottom third)
Cardinals bullpen ERA: 4.06, MLB rank #13 (roughly middle)July 20, 2017 at 5:29 pm #28115What is your take on this?
Carpenter, on Rosenthal's lapse: "That just can’t happen. You can make errors. You can strike out. But you can’t do that. He knows that."

July 20, 2017 at 5:57 pm #28119Post-Dispatch columnists see blood on the water.
The #STLCards are an embarrassment under Mike Matheny this season. Bill DeWitt Jr. betrays fans by accepting these lack of fundamentals. pic.twitter.com/aGH0o9H1nE

It's hard to look more dysfunctional than the 2017 Mets, but the #STLCards managed to find a way

July 20, 2017 at 8:05 pm #28121To be fair there is a valid point in saying that pulling up weaver reyes and a couple other guys for the bullpen next year should improve it quite a bit.
Should.
However your point that the offense needs some thunder and a general remake is also valid.
We just kinda suck.
