Was holding out hope there might be a way forward, but today’s loss means season is over. 54 games left and 5 games behind, and must move ahead of Cubs and Brewers to win the Div. Wild card not an option. Only hope now is that they can be a spoiler at the end of the season for the Cubs, either beat them in the final series or lose to the Brewers late Sep. Cards will end up 3rd barring a season ending injury on Thames or Broxton.

This is what it looks like when management over-promises and players under-perform. Grichuk, Piscotty, Fowler, Carpenter never played to potential, let alone the bullpen. Starting pitching only bright spot, but they are above average at best.

Maybe what’s most disappointing is management seems to be in denial about this team’s ability, or they think we’re stupid.

Well, we at least got a break up in Wrigley tonight. Cubs lose to the D’Backs 10-8 in a back and forth game. D’Backs got two in the top of the 9th to win it.

We stay 4.5 games behind. They have Washington this weekend and we have Cincinnati. If there’s ever a time for a sweep by the Redbirds this is it.

Then again, we might be lucky we score a grand total of 4-5 runs the entire weekend…….

Trust me! We’ll be 4.5 out after the weekend.

Someone posted that starting pitching is just above average? Here are the top 5 rotation ERAs in MLB –

    1.) Dodgers – 3.20
    2.) Diamondbacks – 3.55
    3.) Nationals – 3.64
    4.) Cardinals – 3.76
    5.) Astros – 3.99

They are only teams with a rotation ERA under 4.00. And we have Reyes, Weaver, Flaherty, and Hudson in the wings. That’s a lot better than just above average.

And believe it or not, the bullpen ERA ranks 9th out of 30 major league teams.

Look to the offense. It ranks 20th in runs scored.

The sequencing is really poor this season.
