Then our brass needs to do a better job on inquiring. It was common knowledge that the Marlins were engaged in a full fledged fire sale. So when the Cardinals were initially told that Yelich wasn’t available, they should have pressed. But who knows, maybe the Cards actually wanted Marcell more than Yelich in the first place? If so, it was a terrible decision. These things are very easy to judge AFTER the fact, but I would like to think our team would have coveted a Yelich much more than a Marcell…..even after the fine 2017 season that Marcell posted. Knowing who to take in these situations is what these guys are paid the big bucks to do.
