I’m shocked Mookie still got that contract after everything that’s happened and the pending issues after the 2021 season….. shocked isn’t a strong enough word actually.
If the agreement was reached during Spring Training 1.0 then perhaps the Dodgers didn’t want to pull the offer and ruin the relationship, although I imagine many owners would.
If the agreement was reached during Spring Training 2.0 then the contract amount is a bit surprising but I guess the Dodgers feel that revenues will only be down for a year or two and it will be worth it in the long run.
