The St. Louis Cardinals system was 0-1 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, catcher Austin Allen, was 3-for-5 and drove in three of Memphis’ four runs. Other standouts are Scott Hurst and Luken Baker.

The Memphis Redbirds were defeated by the Sounds in Nashville on Tuesday night in Game 2 of the final series of the season. Starter Matthew Liberatore pitched six innings, gave up four runs on six hits and fanned six. The left hander took the loss, his ninth.
James Naile relieved Liberatore and threw a scoreless seventh. Genesis Cabrera surrendered five runs in the eighth.
Nashville took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. In the third, Memphis tied the game. The inning began with a walk by Justin Toerner. Scott Hurst followed with a single. Kramer Robertson was hit by a pitch. With the bases loaded, Austin Allen singled to score Toerner and Hurst.
The Sounds regained the lead with two runs in the fifth. The Redbirds added a run in the seventh. Robertson doubled and scored on a ground out by Moises Gomez.
Nashville pulled away in the eighth, scoring five runs to widen their lead to 9-3. Memphis put up one more run in the ninth on an RBI single by Allen.
Allen was 3-for-5 with three RBI. Hurst was 3-for-4. Luken Baker was 2-for-4.
On the base paths, Hurst was caught stealing for the eighth time.
Memphis is 72-77 on the season and is in sixth place in the International League West, 19.5 games back of first place Nashville. Memphis plays their final game of the season on Wednesday.
