Order TCN’s 2022 Cardinals Prospect Guide

Blowout sale! The final spiral-bound copies of The Cardinal Nation 2022 Prospect Guide are 20% off until sold out. See details below.

Now available, The Cardinal Nation 2022 Prospect Guide is back for a fifth year. It features 276 pages of in-depth commentary about the very best St. Louis Cardinals minor leaguers, including dozens of color photos.

As always, the Guide can be purchased in two formats – the PDF version (offered at half-price for TCN annual subscribers) and the very popular spiral-bound printed book.

The Cardinal Nation has published rankings of the top prospects across the St. Louis Cardinals system since 2006. Again here in 2022, we have compiled all of these brand-new reports and much more information not available elsewhere into The Cardinal Nation 2022 Prospect Guide.

The core of the Guide remains in-depth profiles on all players on our new Top 50 Prospect List, with each player write-up new for 2022. Individual profiles include photos, scouting reports, probable 2022 team assignment, Rule 5 status, estimated MLB arrival, ultimate potential and more.

TCN owner Brian Walton and scouting analyst Jake Tweedie each extend their analysis to a group of others who just missed the Top 50 and identify a sleeper prospect for 2022.

These prospect reports are fresh, compiled from information gathered while watching the players in action and on video as well as from conversations with their coaches, Cardinals’ player development staff, scouts from outside of the organization and the players themselves.

Additional views of the 2022 Top 50 presented include ranking tiers, an ultimate potential-only re-ranking, depth by position and prospect proximity to St. Louis.

The Guide opens with a look back at last year’s prospect list, MLB debuts, team results, stats leaders and award winners during 2021. It concludes with an extensive Cardinals history section, including in-depth breakdown and analysis of each First-Year Player Draft back to 2013 and top international signings since 2004, including bonuses and spending against pool amounts. Also included are Rule 5 Draft results back to 2002 and our top prospect lists from 2006 forward.

Prospect Guide Foreword

Dan McLaughlin

In the past three years, professional baseball has seen its fair share of challenges and changes. We’ve seen shortened seasons for all levels, abbreviated drafts, and more hurdles for the game. Everyone working in the sport has had to adapt.

Yet, Brian Walton and The Cardinal Nation team haven’t wavered an ounce in their coverage of the ball club. This guide reflects their commitment to getting information to fans, especially in a time of constant change. I’m constantly amazed at how Brian and his team put out daily content on the Cardinals prospects at all levels in the organization. They have done this when there wasn’t even a minor league season!

This guide was the most valuable resource I had when the Cardinals were calling up player after player, in the shortened season of 2020. It gave me valuable information on players that I wouldn’t normally had seen in an MLB season.

Once our 2022 season starts, this booklet will serve as my go-to source for info on the Cardinals farm system and top prospects. Each year on our broadcasts, this resource helps me to inform fans about the club’s rising stars. As a true fan of the game, I find this guide invaluable and urge anyone interested in Cardinals baseball to get it each year. Many thanks to Brian and his team for their diligence and allegiance over the years.

This is the best source of information for the St. Louis Cardinals prospects and its system. It’s a must have for any Cardinals fan. You WILL learn about the stars of tomorrow. Go Cards!
