The St. Louis Cardinals system was 0-2 on Friday. The Player of the Day is Memphis 3B Nick Dunn, who was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Other standouts include Max Rajcic and R.J. Yeager.
Results for games played Wednesday, September 13.
The Triple-A Redbirds were edged by the Sounds in their 5-4 loss on Friday. Quinn Mathews got the start for Memphis. The left-hander pitched 2 2/3 innings, gave up four runs on one hit, struck out four and walked five.
Andre Granillo relieved Mathews and threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings. Victor Santos hurled a scoreless sixth. Ryan Shreve tossed a scoreless seventh. Kyle Leahy surrendered one run in the final 1 2/3 scoreless innings and took the loss.
Memphis took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Victor Scott drew a walk. Mike Antico singled. Nolan Gorman drove in Scott on a single.

The Redbirds added a run in the second. Nick Dunn singled. Wade Stauss walked. Dunn scored on a double by Antico.

Nashville put up four runs in the third to lead 4-2. In the eighth, the Redbirds scored two runs to tie the game at 4-4. César Prieto walked. Alfonso Rivas was hit by a pitch. Nick Dunn doubled to plate Prieto. Rivas came home on a passed ball.

The Sounds walked it off in the ninth with one run scored for a 5-4 win.
Memphis scored four runs on seven hits. Dunn was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Antico was 2-for-5 with an RBI.
Antico stole his 13th base.
Memphis is 70-71 on the season, 32-34 in the second half. They are in sixth place in the International League West, 11 games back of Columbus.
Saturday’s game: at Nashville, Zack Thompson LHP (3-6, 5.01) vs. Chad Patrick RHP (13-1, 3.08) 5:05 CT (game one); at Nashville, TBD vs. TBD (game two).
Springfield 2 at San Antonio 5
The Double-A Cardinals fell to the Missions in a 5-2 contest on Friday. Max Rajcic was on the bump for Springfield. The right-hander pitched five innings, gave up one run on three hits, fanned five and walked two.
Andrew Marrero relieved Rajcic and surrendered three runs in two innings to earn the loss. Nathanael Heredia allowed one run in the eighth.
San Antonio went up 1-0 in the third inning. Springfield tied the game in the fourth on a solo home run by R.J. Yeager.

The game remained knotted up 1-1 until the seventh when the Missions put up three runs to lead 4-1.
The Cardinals answered with a run in the top of the eighth to cut the lead to 4-2. Jimmy Crooks drew a walk. Yeager reached on an error. Both runners advanced on a passed ball. Noah Mendlinger walked. Chase Davis reached on a fielder’s choice and Crooks scored.
San Antonio responded with a run in the home half of the eighth to win the game 5-2.
Springfield scored two runs on six hits. Nathan Church was 2-for-5.
Chris Rotondo stole his sixth base. Leonardo Bernal was caught stealing.
Springfield is 78-58, 41-26 in the second half.
Saturday’s game: at San Antonio, TBD (SPR) vs. Ryan Bergert RHP (2-9, 4.89) 7:05 CT.
Palm Beach Cardinals – Off
Palm Beach swept the Daytona Tortugas in the Division Series and advanced to the Championship Series to face the Lakeland Flying Tigers in a best-of-three series. Game 1 begins on Sunday at Lakeland. Game 2 and Game 3 (if necessary) will be played in Jupiter at Roger Dean Stadium on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Saturday’s game: Off.
