The St. Louis Cardinals system went 2-2 on Saturday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, left-hander Brycen Mautz, hurled six scoreless innings in Palm Beach’s win. Other standouts include Luken Baker, Connor Thomas, Chandler Redmond and Leonardo Taveras.

Memphis 5 at Lehigh Valley 3 (10 innings)
The Memphis Redbirds (24-14) topped the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (PHI, 18-19) in extra innings at Coca-Cola Park.
Connor Thomas tossed 5 2/3 innings and surrendered a run on eight hits and two walks. TCN’s no. 19 prospect struck out five. Kyle Leahy pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings with a strikeout.
After the IronPigs scored a run in the first, Oscar Mercado tied the game in the fourth after he doubled. Juniel Querecuto blasted his fifth homer of the year in the seventh, a solo shot, to give Memphis the lead.
Kodi Whitley pitched a scoreless eighth inning and fanned two. Jake Walsh yielded a run in the ninth to send the contest into extra innings. TCN’s no. 20 prospect was touched for two runs, one earned, in 1 2/3 innings. Ryan Loutos recorded the last out in the 10th.
In the 10th, Taylor Motter singled and Ivan Herrera walked to load the bases. With the bases loaded and two out, Luken Baker doubled to clear the bases and make the score 5-2. Ryan Loutos induced a groundball with the bases loaded and two out in the home half to win the game.
Motter went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. Every player in the lineup was on base at least once except Kramer Robertson. The Redbirds recorded eight hits and six walks.
Sunday’s game: at Lehigh Valley, RHP Michael McGreevy (4-0, 1.93) vs. TBA 12:35 CT
Springfield 3 at Tulsa 8 (6 innings)
The Springfield Cardinals (13-19) fell to the Tulsa Drillers (LAD, 22-10) at ONEOK Field on Saturday night. After an almost 2-hour rain delay, the game was concluded in the sixth inning due to inclement weather in the Tulsa area.
Starter Brandon Komar gave up eight runs on six hits and three walks in only 3 1/3 innings. The 2022 Rule 5 Draft pick took his third loss of the season.
The Drillers scored a run in the second but Springfield responded in the fourth after Arquímedes Gamboa singled to plate Jacob Buchberger. Tulsa responded with a seven-run bottom half. Chandler Redmond hit a two-run homer, his 12th of the season, to make the score 8-3 in the fifth.
Ryan Shreve pitched a scoreless 1 2/3 innings and yielded a hit and two strikeouts.
Gamboa went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Matt Koperniak tripled and Redmond homered. The lineup went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position and struck out 10 times in five innings.
Mike Antico took his fourth bag of the year.
Sunday’s game: at Tulsa, RHP Wilfredo Pereira (0-2, 4.21) vs. RHP Nick Nastrini (1-1, 2.12) 1:05 CT
After almost an hour rain delay, the Peoria Chiefs (17-15) were edged by the Dayton Dragons (CIN, 15-17) at Dozer Park.
Alex Cornwell surrendered four runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings. The left-hander fanned six and took his second loss of the year.
The Chiefs took the lead in the first inning after Nathan Church came across on an error. The Dragons scored all five runs between the fourth and seventh innings.
Gustavo Rodriguez yielded a run in one inning. TCN’s no. 42 prospect struck out two. Leonardo Taveras fanned seven batters in 2 2/3 scoreless innings. The 24-year-old did not give up a hit and walked only one.
Peoria attempted to come back in the final innings. In the seventh, Brody Moore stole second and Thomas Francisco stole home. Elijah Cabell doubled to plate Moore. Nathan Church brought Cabell across via double to make the score 5-4. The Chiefs could not get the tying run across in the last three innings.
In his High-A debut, Moore went 0-for-4 but came home and stole a base. Church doubled twice and had the only multi-hit game. Cabell also doubled and recorded an RBI and a run scored. The lineup went 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position.
Peoria pitching struck out 15 Dayton hitters.
Sunday’s game: vs. Dayton, RHP Ian Bedell (2-1, 0.90) vs. RHP Jose Acuna (2-0, 2.42) 1:05 CT
The Palm Beach Cardinals (19-13) blanked the Jupiter Hammerheads (MIA, 18-14) at Roger Dean Stadium on Saturday.
Brycen Mautz threw six scoreless innings and yielded six hits and a walk. TCN’s no. 13 prospect fanned three and lowered his ERA to 3.45.
The Beach Birds scored the first run in the fourth inning after Michael Curialle brought across Alex Iadisernia via single. Leonardo Bernal grounded into a forceout in the sixth to score Adanson Cruz.
Chris Gerard pitched two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. The 2021 draftee has not surrendered a run in 13 innings this season. Roy Garcia saved his fourth game of the year with a scoreless ninth.
Palm Beach only recorded three hits and three walks but the pitching was lights out. Chris Rotondo and Curialle both recorded a hit and a walk. Carlos Linarez had the other hit.
Iadisernia and Bernal both stole a bag. Joshua Baez threw a runner out at home from right field.
Sunday’s game: at Jupiter, RHP Cade Winquest (2-1, 2.89) vs. RHP Collin Lowe (2-1, 5.70) 11:00 CT
