The St. Louis Cardinals system went 3-2 on Saturday after Springfield split a twin bill. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Joshua Baez, doubled, walked four times, came across twice and stole a bag. Other standouts include Moisés Gómez, Pedro Pagés, Victor Scott II and Won-Bin Cho.

The Memphis Redbirds (30-26) topped the Omaha Storm Chasers (KC, 23-31) on Saturday night at Werner Park.
Jake Woodford tossed three no-hit innings in his rehab assignment with one walk and two strikeouts. Zack Thompson pitched four innings and yielded two runs on five hits and four walks. The left-hander fanned six and earned his first Triple-A win this year.
Memphis struck in the second inning to take the lead. Taylor Motter singled and advanced to third. He came across on a fielding error. In the third, Masyn Winn singled and scored Aaron Antonini to extend his hitting streak to 11 games.

In the sixth, Moisés Gómez blasted a two-run homer, his 15th of the season.

Jmes Naile struck out three and surrendered a hit and one walk in the eighth inning. Guillermo Zuñiga saved his fifth game of the year.
The lineup recorded six hits and a walk. Motter had the only multi-hit game with two. The Redbirds went 2-for-6 with runners in scoring position and the pitching struck out 11 hitters.
On the base paths, Robertson was picked off. Gómez committed a fielding error in right field.

Springfield 5 at Amarillo 4 (8 innings, Game 1)
The Springfield Cardinals (22-27) edged the Amarillo Sod Poodles (ARI, 22-27) in game one of the doubleheader at Hodgetown.
Starter Connor Lunn yielded four runs in six innings on eight hits and two walks. The right-hander struck out six.
Chase Pinder drove in a run in the first but Amarillo answered with a run in the home half. Pedro Pagés gave the Cardinals the lead back in the fifth via single. The Sod Poodles took the lead in the sixth.
In relief, Chris Roycroft earned his first win of the year with a scoreless seventh. Andre Granillo saved his second game with a scoreless eighth.
In the seventh, Pinder walked and Pagés blasted a two-run shot to tie the game at 4-4. L.J. Jones started on second in the eighth and Irving Lopez was hit by a pitch. Noah Mendlinger continued his hot streak with a go-ahead single to plate Jones.
Pagés went 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBI. Mendlinger and Arquímedes Gamboa each recorded two hits. The top five of the lineup went 8-for-16 in the game while the bottom four spots went 0-for-12. The lineup left 12 runners on base.
Pinder threw a runner out at third and home for two outfield assists.
Springfield 1 at Amarillo 6 (7 innings, Game 2)
In the makeup from Friday’s rainout, the Springfield Cardinals (22-28) fell to the Amarillo Sod Poodles (ARI, 23-27) on Saturday night.
Starter Kenny Hernandez went 5 2/3 innings and was touched for six runs on eight hits and two walks. The left-hander fanned three and took his second loss of the season. Nick Trogrlic-Iverson fanned one in 1/3 of an inning.
Springfield scored their only run in the second inning after Jacob Buchberger hit a solo home run, his ninth of the season.
The lineup only had four hits and two walks in the contest. Buchberger homered and walked. The Cardinals went 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position and left five runners on base.
Sunday’s game: at Amarillo, RHP Logan Gragg (0-3, 7.55) vs. RHP Jeff Bain (1-2, 5.70) 6:05 CT
The Peoria Chiefs (22-28) were defeated by the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (MIL, 18-31) at Fox Cities Stadium on Saturday.
Trent Baker threw four innings and gave up four runs on six hits and two walks. TCN’s no. 26 prospect struck out four and took his fourth loss of 2023.
The Timber Rattlers scored two runs in the first inning and went up 4-0 in the fifth. In the seventh, Ramon Mendoza doubled, Victor Scott II walked and Darlin Moquete was hit by a pitch. Nathan Church singled to score two.

Leonardo Taveras pitched 2 2/3 innings and struck out six batters. Roy Garcia tossed the final 1 1/3 innings and fanned two.
The Chiefs recorded six hits and two walks but went 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position. Scott went 2-for-4 with a walk, one double and a run scored. Osvaldo Tovalin and Mendoza also doubled.
Scott took three bags in the first three innings. He jumped back to first place with the most stolen bases in professional baseball.

Jimmy Crooks had his fourth passed ball this season behind the plate.

The Palm Beach Cardinals (29-21) beat the Daytona Tortugas (CIN, 21-29) on Saturday night at Roger Dean Stadium.
Starter Cade Winquest was charged with four runs in 5 2/3 innings. The right-hander yielded six hits, a walk and no strikeouts.
The Tortugas scored three runs between the third and fourth innings. The Beach Birds responded with a run in the fourth and five in the fifth. Brandon Hernandez singled to score a run in the fourth.
Won-Bin Cho came across in the fifth on an error. Hernandez and Lizandro Espinoza both walked with the bases loaded to take a 4-3 lead. Alex Iadisernia singled to plate two. In the seventh, Iadisernia doubled to make the score 7-4.
Jose Davila saved his second game of the year after 3 1/3 scoreless innings. The 20-year-old surrendered a hit, a walk and struck out three.
Cho went 3-for-5 with a double and a run. Iadisernia recorded two hits and three RBI. Joshua Baez doubled, walked four times and came across twice. Every starter in the lineup was on base at least once.
Baez stole his fifth bag of the year.
