Cardinals Minor League Notebook – June 25, 2026

The St. Louis Cardinals system was 3-1 on Wednesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield’s Rainiel Rodriguez, was 2-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run. Other standouts include Braden Davis, Won-Bin Cho, Yhoiker Fajardo, Michael Dattalo, José Suárez, Yordalin Peña, and Ryan Weingartner.

Memphis 5 at Jacksonville 13

The Triple-A Redbirds were routed by the Jumbo Shrimp in a 13-5 loss on Wednesday.

Starter Hunter Dobbins pitched four innings and gave up six runs, four earned, on seven hits, three walks and three strikeouts. Dobbins took the loss.

Ryan Fernandez relieved Dobbins and surrendered one run in 1 2/3 innings of relief. Cade Winquest relinquished four runs in one inning pitched. Skylar Hales yielded two runs in an inning. Ryan Murphy got the final out of the eighth.

Jacksonville took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. They added three runs in the second and one run in the third to lead 6-0.

Memphis scored their first run in the fourth to cut the lead to 6-1. Noah Mendlinger walked. Ramon Mendoza reached on an error. Jeremy Rivas singled to score Mendlinger.

The Redbirds added three runs in the top of the fifth to shrink the lead to 6-4.

Joshua Báez walked. Yohel Pozo singled. Mendlinger walked to load the bases. Mendoza again reached on an error, with Báez and Pozo scoring on the play. Matt Koperniak drove in Mendlinger on a single.

The Jumbo Shrimp answered with a run in the home half of the fifth to increase the lead to 7-4. In the top of the seventh, Memphis put up a run on a solo home run by Báez to make it 7-5.

Jacksonville responded with five runs in the bottom of the seventh, then added a run in the eighth for the final score of 13-5.

The offense scored five runs on seven hits. Baez was 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored. Mendlinger scored two runs. Koperniak and Rivas singled and drove in a run.

Báez stole his 13th base of the season. Third baseman Mendoza made two errors, one fielding and one throwing.

Memphis is 1-1 in the second half and 48-29 overall.

Thursday’s game: at Jacksonville, TBD vs. TBD 6:05 CT.

Springfield 7, NW Arkansas 1

The Double-A Cardinals beat the Naturals by the score of 7-1 on Wednesday.

Starter Braden Davis pitched six innings, gave up one run on five hits, walked one and fanned six to earn the win.

Andrew Schultz relieved Davis and threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief. Jack Findlay hurled 2/3 scoreless innings. Dominic Picone tossed a scoreless ninth.

NW Arkansas scored their only run of the game in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead. Springfield answered with a run in the home half of the first on a solo home run by Tre Richardson III, his first at the Double-A level, to tie the game.

The Cardinals added three runs in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead. Jon Jon Gazdar was hit by a pitch and Richardson III singled. Rainiel Rodriguez followed with a three-run home run, his fifth long ball of the season.

In the eighth, Springfield put up three more runs to extend the lead to 7-1. Jesús Báez hit a solo home run, his first with Springfield.

Miguel Ugueto doubled. Won-Bin Cho followed with a two-run home run to become the third Springfield Cardinal with his first Double-A home run in the game.

The Cardinals scored seven runs on nine hits. Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, and three RBI. Richardson III was 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored. Brody Moore was 2-for-4. Cho had two RBI on a home run.

On the bases, Ugueto stole his 22nd bag of the season. Rodriguez was caught stealing second base.

On defense, Left fielder Richardson III had an outfield assist at second base. Right fielder Cho made a phenomenal catch to rob extra bases.

Springfield is 1-1 in the second half and 32-38 overall.

Thursday’s game: vs. NW Arkansas, Chen Wei-Lin RHP (2-3, 4.08) vs. Hunter Owen LHP (1-3, 8:15) 7:05 CT.

Peoria 8 at Beloit 5 (12 innings)

The High-A Chiefs beat the Sky Carp in a long 12-inning, rain delayed game on Wednesday.

Starter Yhoiker Fajardo pitched five innings and gave up two runs, one earned, on two hits, one walk and a career-high nine strikeouts.

Gerardo Salas relieved Fajardo and threw a scoreless sixth. Dominic Freeberger hurled a scoreless seventh. Bobby Olsen tossed a scoreless eighth. Jawilme Ramírez surrendered one run in two innings. Christian Worley allowed two runs, one earned, in the final two innings and earned the win.

Beloit took a 1-0 lead in the third inning. They added a run in the fifth to lead 2-0.

After being no hit through six innings, Peoria put up three runs in the seventh to take a 3-2 lead. Josh Kross walked. Jalin Flores was hit by a pitch. José Suárez singled to load the bases. Michael Dattalo singled to plate Kross and Flores for his first High-A hit and pair of RBI to bring the Cardinals within one at 3-2.

Suárez scored on a fielding error to tie the game at three.

The Sky Carp tied the game in the ninth. The game went into extra innings and neither team scored in the 10th.

In the top of the 11th, the Chiefs scored two runs to grab the lead at 5-3. Christian Martin started the inning at second base. Cade McGee was hit by a pitch. Dattalo singled home Martin.

McGee came home on a fielder’s choice by Cameron Nickens.

Beloit responded with two runs in the bottom of the 11th tie the game at five.

Peoria posted a three run 12th to move back ahead at 8-5. Jose Cordoba started on second base. Kross singled to bring Cordoba home for a 6-5 Peoria lead. Martin singled to put two on base. Suárez plated Kross and Martin to extend the lead to 8-5.

The Sky Carp failed to answer in the bottom of the 12th.

The offense scored eight runs on six hits. Dattalo was 2-for-6 with his first three High-A RBI. Suárez was 2-for-6 with a double and two RBI. Kross and Martin each scored two runs.

On the bases, Dattalo stole his first bag for Peoria. Anyelo Encarnación swiped his eighth base.

On defense, catcher McGee made a throwing error. Pitcher Salas picked a runner off first base.

The Chiefs are 2-2 in the second half and 34-36 overall.

Thursday’s game: at Beloit, Nate Dohm RHP (1-4, 9.00) vs. TBD (BEL) 6:05 CT.

Palm Beach 15, Bradenton 7

The Low-A Cardinals once again beat up on the Marauders in a 15-7 rout on Wednesday.

Starter Brian Holiday pitched 2 2/3 innings and gave up three runs on three hits, two walks and two strikeouts.

Yadiel Batista relieved Holiday and surrendered one run in 2 1/3 innings of relief to earn the win. Justin Militello threw two scoreless innings. Kaden Echeman relinquished three runs in 1 2/3 innings. Antoni Cuello got the final out of the ninth.

Palm Beach pounced early with four runs in the first inning. Sebastian Dos Santos walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Dos Santos advanced to third on a groundout and scored on a sac fly by Ryan Mitchell for a 1-0 Palm Beach lead. Ryan Weingartner singled, stole second, and advanced to third base on an error. Matthew Miura walked. Yordalin Peña followed with a three-run home run, his eighth of the year, to expand the lead to 4-0.

Bradenton scored two runs in the top of the second to cut the lead in half to 4-2. The Beach Birds answered with three runs in the home half of the second to increase the lead to 7-2.

Yairo Padilla reached on a fielder’s choice and scored on a double by Mitchell. Weingartner hit a two-run home run for a 7-2 lead.

The Marauders added two runs in the third to shrink the lead to 7-4. The Cardinals responded with five runs in the fourth to extend the lead to 12-4.

Trevor Haskins was hit by a pitch and stole second base. Dos Santos walked. Padilla doubled home Haskins for an 8-4 Cardinals lead.

Mitchell walked to load the bases. Miura walked to force Dos Santos home. Peña ground into a force out, with Padilla out at home. With the bases still loaded, Chase Heath reached on a costly Bradenton error, sending Mitchell, Miura, and Peña home for a 12-4 score.

Palm Beach made it 13-4 in the fifth. Haskins doubled and later scored on a sac fly by Mitchell.

In the top of the eighth, Bradenton scored three runs to reduce the lead to 13-7. The Cardinals responded with two insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth to bring the score to 15-7. Mitchell, Weingartner walked, and Heath walked to load the bases. With two outs, Alex Birge singled to plate Mitchell and Weingartner to stretch the lead to 15-7.

The Cardinals scored 15 runs on 11 hits. Peña was 2-for-5 with a double, a home run, three RBI and two runs scored. Weingartner was 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and three runs scored. Haskins was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored. Mitchell had three RBI and three runs scored along with a double. Miura and Dos Santos scored two runs. Birge singled and collected two RBI. Padilla doubled and drove in a run.

On the basepaths, Weingartner stole his 22nd bag. Haskins swiped his 10th base.

On defense, second baseman Dos Santos made a throwing error.

The Cardinals are 4-1 in the second half and 37-24 overall.

Thursday’s game: vs. Bradenton, Jack Martinez RHP (0-6, 3.93) vs. TBD (BRD) 5:30 CT.

The Cardinals are 11-23 on the season.
