The St. Louis Cardinals system went 3-0 on Wednesday with Palm Beach’s game suspended. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day is Iván Herrera who went 4-for-6 with three runs scored and a three-run home run. Other standouts include Connor Thomas, Masyn Winn, Moisés Gómez and Mike Antico.

The Memphis Redbirds (28-22) crushed the Charlotte Knights (CWS, 18-32) at Truist Field on Wednesday. The offense scored a dominating 14 runs and the pitching surrendered no runs.
The scoring started early with four runs in the first four innings. Ben DeLuzio scored on a wild pitch and Paul DeJong drove in a run in the first. Luken Baker hit his 10th home run of the season in the second. Conner Capel hit a solo shot in the fourth, his sixth of 2022.
Connor Thomas tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings with only three hits given up. The left hander fanned six and recorded his third win. James Naile and Junior Fernández threw a combined 2 1/3 innings. Naile yielded a hit and Fernández struck out two. The pitching staff was charged with four hits and no walks.
In the sixth, the Redbirds added on six runs. DeLuzio scored one and Iván Herrera hit a three-run bomb, his third of the year. DeJong followed suit with a two-run shot to make it a 10-0 Memphis lead. With a commanding lead, the Redbirds were not done scoring.

Ali Sánchez blasted a two-run homer in the eighth, his second of the season. Kramer Robertson finished the scoring after he brought in two, making it a 14-0 lead.
Memphis recorded 18 hits and hit five home runs. Herrera went 4-for-6 with three RBI and three runs scored. Robertson had three hits and two RBI. Alec Burleson, DeJong, Sánchez and Baker all had two hits. Everyone in the lineup came across at least once except for Clint Coulter, who pinch hit for Burleson in the ninth.

Thursday’s game: at Charlotte, TBA vs. RHP Davis Martin (3-1, 4.71) 6:04 CT
The Springfield Cardinals (20-27) topped the Arkansas Travelers (SEA, 23-24) at Hammons Field on Wednesday. Michael McGreevy recorded his first win in Springfield with one run given up in six innings. The right-hander yielded three hits, two walks and struck out five.
The Travelers scored their only run in the second inning off McGreevy. The Cardinals responded with three runs over the second and third innings. Julio Rodriguez hit a solo home run in the second, his third of the season. Moisés Gómez hit his 18th homer of the year in the third to make it a 3-1 lead.
Four more runs were added over the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. Gómez drove in Masyn Winn in the fifth. Malcom Nunez and Delvin Perez each hit a solo shot in the sixth inning. Jordan Walker came across on a wild pitch in the seventh to make the score 7-1.
Tyler Pike and Grant Black combined for three scoreless innings. Pike tossed two and surrendered two walks with three strikeouts. Black threw the ninth and fanned two. The pitching staff gave up three hits, four walks and struck out 10 batters.
The Cardinals hit four home runs and recorded 11 hits. Gómez went 3-for-4 with a two run homer and three RBI. Winn had two doubles, a single, a walk and came across twice. Rodriguez recorded the only other multi-hit game with two. DH Chandler Redmond wore the golden sombrero with four strikeouts in four at-bats.
Thursday’s game: vs. Arkansas, RHP Gordon Graceffo (1-0, 2.57) vs. RHP Levi Stoudt (4-3, 3.83) 7:05 CT
The Peoria Chiefs (19-28) blanked the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (MIL, 29-18) on Wednesday afternoon at Fox Cities Stadium. Wilfredo Pereira tossed a solid five scoreless innings with three hits given up. The right-hander fanned five and claimed his second win.
L.J. Jones brought home Mike Antico in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Three more runs came in the fourth. Mack Chambers brought in a run and Antico doubled to plate two more.
The bullpen was lights out for the Chiefs with no hits or walks yielded. Nathanael Heredia threw three innings with four strikeouts. Leonardo Taveras pitched the ninth inning and fanned two. The pitching staff surrendered three hits and struck out 11 batters.
Peoria added on two more runs in the seventh inning. Todd Lott tripled to score Antico and Jones drove in Lott to increase the lead to 6-0.
Antico went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored. The 24-year-old is on a 16 game on-base streak. Lott went 2-for-4 with a walk, RBI and a run scored. Jones recorded two RBI and Chambers drove in one with two hits. The lineup went 4-for-13 with runners in scoring position.
The pitching staff held the second place Timber Rattlers to three hits and no runs. The Chiefs struck out four times and Wisconsin fanned 11 times.
Thursday’s game: at Wisconsin, RHP Dionys Rodriguez (0-5, 3.98) vs. LHP Brandon Knarr (7-1, 1.58) 6:40 CT
Palm Beach 3, Jupiter 3 (suspended in the seventh inning due to rain)
Wednesday’s contest between Palm Beach and Jupiter was suspended in the seventh inning due to rain. The game was in the top of the seventh and will be finished at 3:30 CT on Thursday.
