Cardinals Minor League Notebook – June 18, 2026

The St. Louis Cardinals system was 1-3 on Wednesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Memphis catcher Yohel Pozo, was 4-for-5 including two home runs and three RBI. Other standouts include Michael Dattalo, Rainiel Rodriguez, Matthew Miura and Ryan Weingartner.

Memphis 8, Nashville 10

The Triple-A Redbirds fell to the Sounds by a 10-8 score at AutoZone Park on Wednesday. Starter Tink Hence pitched two innings, gave up one run on two hits, and struck out two. Hence took the loss.

Jared Shuster relieved Hence and surrendered seven runs in 1 1/3 innings. Hancel Rincon yielded one run in 2 2/3 innings. Cade Winquest threw a scoreless seventh. Max Rajcic hurled a scoreless eighth. Scott Blewett allowed one unearned run in the ninth.

Nashville took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, then added six runs in the top of the third.

Memphis answered with two runs in the home third to shrink the lead to 7-2. Colton Ledbetter walked. Thomas Saggese singled. César Prieto was hit by a pitch. Ledbetter scored on a balk and Saggese and Prieto advanced. Saggese came home on a ground out by Joshua Báez.

The Sounds put up one run in the fourth and another in the top of the fifth to increase the lead to 9-2.

The Redbirds responded with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. Saggese thumped a solo home run. Prieto singled. Prieto was eliminated on a force out by Báez. Yohel Pozo hit a two-run home run.

The Redbirds added a run in the sixth to make it 9-6. Ramon Mendoza and Noah Mendlinger singled. Saggese walked. Mendoza came home on a walk to Báez.

Memphis scored again in the seventh on a solo home run by Pozo. Another run in the eighth brought the score to 9-8. Prieto doubled and advanced to third on a balk. Prieto crossed the plate on a ground out by Leo Bernal.

Nashville scored one final run in the ninth for the final score of 10-8.

The Redbirds scored eight runs on 14 hits. Pozo was 4-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI. Saggese was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Prieto was 2-for-4. Mendoza was 3-for-5. Mendlinger was 2-for-5. Báez drove in two.

Saggese was picked off first base. Pozo was charged with catcher interference. Pozo picked a runner off first base.

Memphis is 44-27 on the season and is tied for first place with Rochester in the International League.

Thursday’s game: vs. Nashville, RHP Hunter Dobbins (3-0, 3.43) vs. RHP Gerson Garabito 7:05 CT.

Springfield 9 at Wichita 10

The Double-A Cardinals were edged by the Wind Surge in a 10-9 road loss on Wednesday. Starter Jurrangelo Cijntje pitched 4 2/3 innings, gave up five runs on six hits, walked three and fanned four.

Darlin Saladin relieved Cijntje and surrendered three runs in one inning and took the loss. Jack Findlay relinquished two runs in 2/3 of an inning. Dominic Picone tossed the final 1 2/3 scoreless innings.

The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the first. Rainiel Rodriguez walked. Ryan Campos singled. Both runners advanced on a ground out by Miguel Ugueto. Rodriguez scored on a passed ball.

The Wind Surge scored two runs in the third to take the lead.

Springfield answered with five runs in the top of the fifth to go ahead 6-2. Rodriguez hit a solo home run. Campos singled. Ugueto reached on an error and stole second base. Trey Paige reached on an error and Campos scored. Travis Honeyman drove in Ugueto on a single. Paige and Honeyman executed a double steal. Paige came home on a throwing error. Brody Moore plated Honeyman on a single.

Rainiel Rodriguez

Wichita answered with three runs in the home fifth to cut Springfield’s lead to 6-5.

The Cardinals added a run in the top of the sixth to extend the lead. Rodriguez singled. Campos doubled. Rodriguez scored on a sac fly by Ugueto.

The Wind Surge responded with three runs in the home sixth to take the lead 8-7. They made it 10-7 in the seventh.

Springfield rallied for two runs in the eighth to shrink the gap to 10-9. Zach Levenson hit a solo home run. Tre Richardson doubled. Rodriguez singled. Richardson scored on a fly out by Ugueto.

The offense scored nine runs on 16 hits. Honeyman was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Rodriguez was 3-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored. Moore was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Levenson was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Ugueto had two RBI. Campos was 3-for-5. Dakota Harris was 2-for-5.

Ugueto stole his 20th base of the season. Paige swiped his 10th bag. Honeyman stole his 23rd base but was caught stealing twice and picked off first base. Harris swiped his 19th base. Paige was caught stealing.

Harris made a fielding error.

Springfield is 27-37 on the season. The Cardinals finished the first half in fourth place in the Texas League North, 16 games back of Tulsa.

Thursday’s game: at Wichita, Braden Davis LHP (0-3, 4.94) vs. Preston Johnson RHP (0-2, 3.93)

Peoria vs. Dayton (postponed)

Wednesday’s game at Dozer Park was postponed due to rain. It will be played as one game of a doubleheader on Thursday, June 18.

Peoria is 32-32 on the season. They are in third place in the Midwest League West, eight games behind South Bend.

Thursday’s games: vs. Dayton, Tanner Franklin RHP (2-1, 4.40) vs. TBD (DAY) 5:00 CT (game one); vs. Dayton, Ty Van Dyke RHP (1-1, 4.96) vs. David Lorduy RHP (0-0, 4.61) (game two).

Palm Beach 11 at Jupiter 6

The Low-A Cardinals defeated the Hammerheads by an 11-6 score at Roger Dean Stadium on Wednesday.

Starter Cooper Hjerpe, rehabbing from Springfield, pitched two scoreless, no-hit innings with two strikeouts.

Xavier Cruz relieved Hjerpe and surrendered five runs, three earned, in three innings but still received the win. Yadiel Batista threw a scoreless sixth. Nathan Shinn hurled a scoreless seventh. Juan García yielded one run in the final two innings.

Palm Beach went up 3-0 in the first inning. Sebastian Dos Santos singled. Deniel Ortiz was hit by a pitch. Dos Santos stole third base. Michael Dattalo singled to score Dos Santos. Ortiz came home on a sac fly by Ryan Weingartner. Dattalo stole second base and crossed the plate on a single by Matthew Miura.

Jupiter scored two runs in the third to cut the lead to 3-2.

In the top of the sixth, the Cardinals added four runs to extend the lead to 7-2. Miura walked, then stole second and third. Yordalin Peña drove in Miura on a sac fly. Jonathan Mejía tripled. Heriberto Caraballo reached on a fielder’s choice and Caraballo scored. Dos Santos and Ortiz walked. Caraballo came home on a sac fly by Ryan Mitchell. Dattalo doubled to plate Dos Santos. Ortiz was thrown out at home.

The Hammerheads responded with three runs in the home sixth to cut the lead to 7-5.

In the top of the eighth, Palm Beach put up four runs to increase the lead to 11-5. Dos Santos, Ortiz and Mitchell walked. Dattalo walked and Dos Santos scored. Ortiz came home on a walk by Weingartner. Miura grounded into a force out as Mitchell scored and Dattalo followed on a throwing error.

Jupiter rallied for one run in the bottom of the eighth to bring the score to 11-6.

The Cardinals scored 11 runs on six hits. Dattalo was 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Miura had two RBI. Weingartner had two RBI. Dos Santos scored three runs. Ortiz scored two runs.

Dos Santos stole two bases. Dattalo stole two bases. Miura stole three bases. Mejía stole his seventh base. Peña swiped his 14th bag. Caraballo was caught stealing.

Ortiz made a throwing error.

The Cardinals are 33-32 on the season. They are in second place in the Florida State League East, three games back of Jupiter, which has clinched the first-half title.

Thursday’s game: at Jupiter, TBD (PB) vs. Noble Meyer RHP (0-0, 18.00) 5:30 CT.

FCL Cardinals 3 at FCL Mets 9 (seven innings)

The rookie Cardinals lost to the Mets by a 9-3 score on Wednesday. Starter Gabriel Chinchilla pitched four innings, gave up seven runs on 10 hits, walked one and fanned four.

Andrew Bolívar relieved Chinchilla and surrendered two unearned runs in two innings.

The Mets went up 4-0 in the first inning. They added one run in the third, and two in the fourth to extend the lead to 7-0.

The Cardinals scored three runs in the top of the sixth. Andru Arthur and Kenly Hunter walked. Cristofer Lebrón grounded into a force, with Hunter out at second. Miguel Hernández drove in Arthur on a single. J.P Cabrera doubled to score Lebrón and Hernández.

The Mets added two runs in the bottom of the sixth for the 9-3 final.

The Cardinals scored three runs on five hits. Cabrera was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Hernández was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Hernández made a throwing error.

The Cardinals are 10-20 on the season. They are in last place in the FCL East, 13.5 games back of FCL Houston.
