The St. Louis Cardinals system went 3-2 on Saturday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day is Brady Whalen who had two home runs in his 2022 Peoria debut. Other standouts include Moisés Gómez, John Beller and Austin Love.

Memphis 4, Jacksonville 3 (10 innings)
The Memphis Redbirds (43-34) topped the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (MIA, 41-36) at AutoZone Park on Saturday. The Redbirds will try to even the series on Sunday.
Steven Matz made his second rehab start with one run surrendered in three innings. Grant Black tossed two scoreless innings and Ryan Loutos yielded a run in his first start for Memphis in two innings.
After the Jumbo Shrimp scored one in the first inning, Scott Hurt responded with a homer in the home half. In the second, Evan Mendoza scored on an error and Ben DeLuzio drove in Irving Lopez with a double.

Kyle Ryan gave up a run in one inning pitched with two hits and two strikeouts. Jacob Bosiokovic earned his first win after he threw the final two innings with three strikeouts.
After the Jumbo Shrimp slowly came back, the game was tied and went into extra innings. Bosiokovic pitched a scoreless 10th and the Redbirds loaded the bases. Moisés Gómez recorded an RBI single to end the game.
The lineup went 3-for-8 with runners in scoring position and struck out 14 times. DeLuzio, Mendoza and Alec Burleson all recorded two hits. Cory Spangenberg had a golden sombrero in the contest (four strikeouts in four at-bats).
Mendoza stole his 10th bag of the year.

The Springfield Cardinals (34-40) beat the Wichita Wind Surge (MIN, 37-36) on Saturday night at Hammons Field.
Starter Kyle Leahy threw five innings with two runs given up on four hits, four walks and six strikeouts. In his first game for Springfield, Logan Gragg yielded two runs in 2 1/3 innings.
The Cardinals scored three of their five runs in the second and third innings. Chandler Redmond drove in a run in the first. Mike Antico hit his second double for the Cardinals to plate one and Malcom Nunez brought in a run in the third. The Wind Surge responded with two in the fourth inning.
After the Wind Surge took the lead in the eighth, the Cardinals scored two in the home half. Masyn Winn scored on a fielder’s choice and Chase Pinder brought in the game-winning run.
John Beller pitched in his first game for Springfield and threw a perfect 1 2/3 innings. The left-hander earned his first win for the Cardinals.
The lineup only had four hits and Pinder recorded two of them. They went 2-for-6 with runners in scoring position.
Antico took two bases in the game, bringing his total to 40 this season in both Peoria and Springfield.

The Peoria Chiefs (30-44) defeated the Quad Cities River Bandits (KC, 29-45) at Modern Woodmen Park on Sunday.
Starter Austin Love tossed seven innings with a run yielded. The right-hander fanned five and earned his fourth win.
In the third, Brady Whalen recorded a two-run shot to take a 2-0 lead. Tyler Reichenborn hit into an RBI double-play in the fifth.

In his second game with the Chiefs, Chris Roycroft surrendered one run on three hits in one inning. Levi Prater threw a perfect ninth inning.
The Chiefs added four runs in the seventh. Reichenborn walked with the bases loaded and Jacob Buchberger drove in two. Osvaldo Tovalin plated one with a single and Brady Whalen hit another home run in the ninth.

Whalen, Tovalin, Todd Lott, Wade Strauss and Tommy Jew all recorded two hits. In his first game as a Chief this season, Whalen went 2-for-4 with a walk and two home runs. Reichenborn plated two in the contest. The lineup went 4-for-15 with runners in scoring position.
Sunday’s game: at Quad Cities, RHP Zane Mills (1-4, 5.40) vs. LHP Rylan Kaufman (1-3, 5.82) 6:00 CT
The Palm Beach Cardinals (36-36) were edged by the Daytona Tortugas (CIN, 32-41) at Roger Dean Stadium on Saturday.
Trent Baker threw five innings with two runs surrendered on five hits and one walk. The right-hander struck out eight. Jack Ralston pitched two scoreless innings with one hit yielded.
Elijah Cabell recorded an RBI single in the first but the Tortugas responded in the second. After Daytona scored one in the fifth, the Beach Birds responded with three in the home half. Aaron McKeithan plated one with a single. Darlin Moquete scored on a balk and Jhon Torres recorded an RBI single.
Chris Holba surrendered three runs, two earned, in the eighth inning. Griffin Roberts tossed a hitless ninth inning with two strikeouts.
The Cardinals had seven hits and nine walks but only scored four times. The lineup had 15 strikeouts in the game. McKeithan recorded the only multi-hit game with two and one RBI.
Adanson Cruz stole his second bag of the season.

FCL Cardinals 0 at FCL Nationals 0 (Suspended)
The Florida Complex League Cardinals and Nationals contest has been suspended due to lightning and will be resumed on July 15th.

The Dominican Summer League Cardinals (9-11) fell to the Twins (9-11) on Saturday morning. The Cardinals used six pitchers in the contest.
Starter Leonel Sequera threw five innings with two runs surrendered on four hits. The 16-year-old struck out eight and recorded his second loss. Jovi Galvez only went 1/3 of an inning with two runs given up. Samuel Fabian had a scoreless 2/3 of an inning.
The Cardinals scored three of their four runs in the sixth inning. Yancel Guerrero doubled to bring one in and Luis Rodriguez scored on an error. Miguel Vargas hit an RBI single. In the eighth, Elias Reynoso walked with the bases loaded.
Omar Yanez had a scoreless seventh inning. Bruno Lopez surrendered a run on two hits and two walks in the eighth. Oliver Lopez closed out the ninth with no damage done.
The lineup struck out 20 times and left 12 runners on base. Maycol Justo recorded the only multi-hit game.
Carlos Carmona and Yordalin Pena both took a bag.
