The St. Louis Cardinals system had an 0-for-4 Sunday, scoring just nine runs in total. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, RH Ixan Henderson, tossed five scoreless innings for Palm Beach. Other standouts include Ivan Herrera, Jacob Young, Jacob Buchberger and Hancel Rincon.

The Memphis Redbirds’ (10-11) comeback fell short, resulting in a 4-3 loss to the Iowa Cubs (10-11, CHC) on Sunday at AutoZone Park. Starter Victor Santos took his sixth loss this season, pitching four innings, and allowing four runs on five hits while striking out six.
The Cubs opened the scoring in the first with a three-run shot to right field and extended their lead to 4-0 with a solo bomb in the third.
The Redbirds did not get on the board until the eighth on Jared Young’s RBI double and Nick Dunn’s RBI double.

Iván Herrera’s RBI single brought the game to within one in the ninth, but Memphis failed to tie the game with a runner in scoring position.
Herrera was on base four times, going 3-for-4 with a walk, an RBI, and a run scored. Young hit 3-for-5 including a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Dunn went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. The Redbirds totaled three runs on nine hits with four walks and seven strikeouts while hitting 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position.
In relief, Nick Raquet threw three scoreless innings, giving up one hit while striking out one. Andre Granillo added a scoreless inning, yielding a walk. Nick Robertson pitched a scoreless inning while striking out one. Memphis allowed four runs on six hits while walking one and striking out eight.
The Memphis Redbirds went 1-2 in their three-game home series with the Iowa Cubs. The Redbirds will travel to Columbus to face the Clippers (12-8, CLE) in a six-game series that begins on Tuesday.

The Springfield Cardinals (13-8) blew an early lead to lose to the Amarillo Sod Poodles (8-13, ARI) by a score of 6-5 on Sunday at Hodgetown. Starter Max Rajcic took his eighth loss this season, pitching 4 2/3 innings, allowing five runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out six.
Nathan Church scored on a wild pitch in the first to put Springfield on the board. The Cardinals extended their lead to 3-0 in the top of the fourth with RBI singles by Noah Mendlinger and Jeremy Rivas.
Amarillo earned one run back in the bottom of the fourth on a solo homer to left field.
Springfield added an insurance run with Jacob Buchberger’s RBI single in the top of the fifth.
However, the Sod Poodles came back to take the lead in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single, a two-RBI double, and an RBI single. Another solo longball in the seventh extended the Sod Poodles’ lead to 6-4.
Rivas’ sacrifice fly in the eighth was Springfield’s only offense in the last four innings as the comeback fell short with a 6-5 loss.
Buchberger went 4-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored. Mendlinger was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Rivas hit 2-for-3 with two RBI. The Cardinals totaled five runs on 15 hits with four walks and six strikeouts.
Andrew Marrero gave up two hits and two walks while striking out one in 1 1/3 innings pitched. Jack Ralston threw an inning, yielding one run on one hit while striking out two. Benito Garcia threw a scoreless inning while striking out two. Springfield allowed six runs on 10 hits while walking three and striking out 11.
The Springfield Cardinals dropped the series to the Amarillo Sod Poodles, winning one of three in their road weekend series. The Cardinals will begin a home series on Tuesday against the Corpus Christi Hooks (5-15, HOU).

The Peoria Chiefs (12-12) were demolished by the Beloit Sky Carp (13-11, MIA) on Sunday at Dozer Park. Starter Hancel Rincon threw five innings, allowing one run on four hits while walking two and striking out five. The Sky Carp struck first in the first with an RBI double.
Chris Rotondo responded in the third with an RBI single to tie the game at one apiece.
The score remained knotted until the eighth, when Beloit took a 4-1 lead against reliever Tanner Jacobson, who allowed a two-run home run and an RBI single.
Reliever Nathanael Heredia failed to stop the bleeding in the ninth when Beloit notched two two-RBI doubles to make the score 8-1.
Dionys Rodriguez pitched two scoreless innings while striking out two. Jacobson took his sixth loss this season, yielding three runs on three hits while striking out one in an inning pitched. Heredia gave up four runs on two hits while walking three in 2/3 of an inning. Peoria allowed eight runs on nine hits while walking five and striking out eight.
Rotondo was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk. Miguel Villarroel hit 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. Tre Richardson and Johnfrank Salazar were the only other Chiefs to record a hit. The Chiefs totaled one run on four hits with five walks and 11 strikeouts.
The Peoria Chiefs were swept in their three-game home series against the Beloit Sky Carp while being outscored 20-8. The Chiefs hope to turn it around in a six-game series at the last-place South Bend Cubs (7-17, CHC) that begins on Tuesday.

The Palm Beach Cardinals (14-8) were shut out 2-0 by the Daytona Tortugas (13-8, CIN) on Sunday at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Starter Ixan Henderson threw five scoreless innings, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out four.
The Tortugas scored their only runs in the seventh against reliever Angel Cuenca who gave up a two-RBI double.
Luis Gastelum threw a scoreless inning, yielding one hit while striking out one. Cuenca took his first loss this season, pitching one inning, and allowing two runs on three hits. Hunter Hayes threw a scoreless inning, giving up a walk. Palm Beach allowed two runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out five.
Kade Kretzschmar, Trey Paige, and Chase Adkison each singled and walked. Chase Davis was the only other Cardinal to record a hit, another single. The Cardinals totaled no runs on four hits with four walks and eight strikeouts while stranding eight men on base.
The Palm Beach Cardinals won one of two in their weekend series against the Daytona Tortugas with their Saturday matchup rescheduled for August 28th. The Cardinals will begin a six-game series on Tuesday at the St. Lucie Mets (8-16, NYM).

FCL Cardinals – Off Sunday
The Florida Complex League Cardinals (19-32) did not play on Sunday. They will take the field on Monday against the FCL Nationals (24-27, WSH).

DSL Cardinals – Off Sunday
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals (15-17) are off Sundays. The Cardinals will resume play on Monday against the DSL Mets Blue (12-21, NYM).
