The St. Louis Cardinals system went 5-1 on Thursday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, MLB Futures Game invitee Masyn Winn, had three hits, a walk, three RBI, four runs and two stolen bases for Springfield. Other standouts include Irving Lopez, Thomas Francisco and Jose Cordoba.

The Memphis Redbirds (49-38) destroyed the Nashville Sounds (MIL, 52-34) at First Horizon Park on Thursday. Every player in the lineup either came across or drove in a run.
10 of the 19 runs came in the first three innings. Scott Hurst scored on a wild pitch in the first and Moisés Gómez hit a three-run homer, his third with Memphis. In the second, Scott Hurst and Paul DeJong hit home runs for an 8-0 lead. Irving Lopez added two more in the fourth with a two-run shot.

Jake Woodford tossed five scoreless frames with only three hits given up. The right-hander struck out five and earned his first 2022 win for the Redbirds. James Naile yielded a run in 1 1/3 innings and Kyle Ryan tossed a scoreless 1 2/3 innings.
The Redbirds added nine more runs in the final three innings. Delvin Pérez tripled to score two in the seventh. In the eighth, Luken Baker and Iván Herrera both plated a run. Memphis capped off the night with a five run ninth. Paul DeJong hit a three-run homer, his second of the night. Herrera and Lopez both drove in a run to take a 19-1 lead.
Jacob Bosiokovic surrendered a run in 1/3 of an inning and Zach McAllister was touched for two runs in the final 2/3 of an inning.
The lineup had 23 hits, five walks and five home runs. Hurst, Gómez and Lopez all had four hits and three RBI. DeJong went 2-for-5 with a walk, two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored.
The Redbirds have won the first three over the Sounds this week and are 3.5 games back of first place.
Friday’s game: at Nashville, RHP Tommy Parsons (6-2, 4.26) vs. RHP Alec Bettinger (1-4, 6.68) 7:05 CT
The Springfield Cardinals (9-6) crushed the Tulsa Drillers (LAD, 5-10) at Hammons Field on Thursday night. Every player was on base at least once.
Starter Kyle Leahy recorded his sixth win despite giving up all five runs in five innings. The right-hander yielded seven hits, three walks and five strikeouts.
After the Drillers scored one in the first, the Cardinals responded with two in the home half. Masyn Winn and Chase Pinder each drove in a run.
Tulsa answered back with four runs in the second but Springfield added four in the bottom half of the inning. Winn doubled to plate two and Jordan Walker singled to score two.

In the fourth, Mike Antico hit a solo shot, his first in Springfield. Walker grounded out and Winn came across to take an 8-5 lead.
Domingo Robles tossed a scoreless three innings with two hits and three strikeouts. Leonardo Taveras pitched the ninth with no damage done. The right-hander has a scoreless 2 2/3 innings since he was promoted to Springfield.
The Cardinals added three runs in the sixth. Julio Rodriguez and Jonah Davis hit back-to-back home runs to start the inning. Malcom Nunez plated Winn to take an 11-5 lead. Walker hit a solo shot in the eighth, his eighth of the year. Rodriguez scored one more via sacrifice fly.
The top three spots in the lineup did most of the damage for Springfield as they had seven RBI and eight runs. Antico went 1-for-2 with three walks, a home run, three runs scored and a stolen bag. Winn had three hits, a walk, three RBI, four runs scored and two stolen bases. Walker went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a home run.
The Cardinals are in first place in the Texas League North and have a four-game win streak.
Friday’s game: vs. Tulsa, RHP Connor Lunn (2-4, 6.09) vs. RHP Clayton Beeter (0-3, 4.70) 7:05 CT
The Peoria Chiefs (5-13) fell to the South Bend Cubs (CHC, 14-4) at Dozer Park on Thursday. The lineup only recorded two hits.
Starter Austin Love surrendered five runs in five innings on five hits and one walk. The right-hander fanned eight and took his eighth loss. Nathanael Heredia tossed a scoreless two innings with two strikeouts. Gianluca Dalatri struck out three batters in two scoreless innings.
The only Chiefs run came in the second inning after the Cubs scored all five runs. L.J. Jones blasted a solo shot, his seventh of the year. The Chiefs had the tying run at the plate in the ninth inning but Osvaldo Tovalin could not bring any across.
The lineup left four runners on base and struck out 10 times. Jacob Buchberger and Jones recorded the only hits. Brady Whalen and Francisco Hernandez struck out three times each.
The Chiefs are tied for last place in the Midwest League West, nine games back of South Bend.

The Palm Beach Cardinals (11-7) topped the Lakeland Flying Tigers (7-10) at Roger Dean Stadium on Thursday.
Carlos Guarate tossed six innings with two runs given up on four hits and one walk. The 21-year-old struck out eight and earned his fourth win.
The Cardinals scored four runs in the fifth inning. Jhon Torres singled to plate one and Thomas Francisco doubled to clear the loaded bases. Three more runs were scored in the seventh. Matt Chamberlain recorded an RBI triple and Francisco drove in his fourth of the game. Patrick Romeri singled to plate one and take a 7-3 lead.

Roy Garcia yielded a run in two innings pitched. Nelfri Contreras gave up two runs in the ninth inning. The left-hander surrendered three hits and two strikeouts.
The lineup had nine hits and four walks. Chamberlain, Francisco and Torres recorded two hits each. Francisco had four RBI and a run scored. The left-hander is batting .571 in four games since returning to Palm Beach.
Sander Mora took his seventh base of the year.
The Beach Birds are tied for first with the St. Lucie Mets in the Florida State League East.

FCL Cardinals 3 at FCL Mets 2 (Game 1, 8 innings)
The Florida Complex League Cardinals (12-14) edged the Mets (16-11) at St. Lucie Sports Complex in Game 1 of a scheduled doubleheader.
Starter Yonael Dominguez tossed 4 1/3 innings with two runs surrendered on three hits, three walks and two strikeouts. Ludwin Jimenez took the remainder of the fifth inning with no damage done. Brayan Ramirez pitched a scoreless sixth inning with one hit, one walk and a strikeout.
The Cardinals struck first as Jose Cordoba hit a leadoff home run in the first inning, his fourth of the season. They went down 2-1 in the fifth. Jeremy Ramos plated Cordoba in the sixth to tie the game. In the eighth, Cordoba drove in the go-ahead run via sacrifice fly.
Randel Clemente earned his first win after a hitless 1 2/3 innings with four strikeouts. Victor Villanueva saved his first game of the season after he struck out the last batter in the eighth inning.
Cordoba was involved with every run after he went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Samil De La Rosa also recorded two hits. The lineup went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.
Luis Pino stole his third bag of the year.
FCL Cardinals 0, FCL Mets 9 (Game 2, suspended in the fourth inning)
In a makeup from June 30th, the Cardinals and Mets contest was suspended in the fourth inning due to lightning and will be completed on July 29th.
In the partial game that was played, the pitching surrendered nine runs and De La Rosa recorded the only Cardinal hit. Alejandro Cervantes only lasted 1 1/3 innings with two runs given up on four hits, two walks and three strikeouts. Augusto Calderon yielded five runs in 2/3 of an inning. Two runs were charged to Wilmer Ortega in 1 2/3 innings.
The Cardinals are 7.5 games behind the first place Nationals in the FCL East.

DSL Cardinals 8, DSL Mariners 6
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals (16-15) beat the Mariners (16-13) on Thursday afternoon.
Starter Nelfy Ynfante tossed 4 2/3 innings with a run surrendered on four hits and five strikeouts. Juan Severino gave up two runs in 2/3 of an inning.
The Cardinals and Mariners traded runs in the first inning. Yordalin Pena plated one via sacrifice fly. In the fifth, Yancel Guerrero scored on a wild pitch. Elias Reynoso walked with the bases loaded in the sixth to tie the game 3-3. Guerrero was hit by a pitch to score one and Miguel Vargas came across on a wild pitch.
Samuel Fabian yielded three runs in 1 2/3 innings on three hits and one walk. Bruno Lopez threw the final two scoreless innings and earned his second win this year.
After the Mariners took a 6-5 lead in the eighth, the Cardinals scored three runs in the bottom half. Jonathan Mejia scored a run to tie the game. Two runs came across on a forceout and a throwing error by the opposing catcher.
Mejia went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Guerrero went 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored. The lineup had five hits and eight walks.
Miguel Vargas, Arfeni Batista, Elias Reynoso, Guerrero, Mejia and Jose Suarez all took one bag. Suarez attempted to steal home but was caught.
The Cardinals are five games back of first place Colorado in the DSL South.
