The St. Louis Cardinals system was 2-3 on Friday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Peoria 1B Sammy Hernandez, hit a two-run walk off home run. Other standouts include Tanner Franklin, Joshua Báez, Ian Petrutz, Cade Crossland and Christian Sáez.

The Triple-A Redbirds lost the Sounds by a 5-3 score at AutoZone Park on Friday.
Starter Quinn Mathews pitched three innings, gave up four runs, three earned, on four hits, walked six and fanned four. Mathews took the loss.
Cade Winquest relieved Mathews and threw a scoreless fourth. In his first relief appearance of the season and only the second in his career, Pete Hansen surrendered one unearned run in four innings. Brycen Mautz tossed a scoreless ninth.
Nashville went up 4-0 in the first inning and added a run in the sixth to lead 5-0.
Memphis finally got on the board with three runs in the eighth. Andy Yerzy and Colton Ledbetter singled before Joshua Báez blasted a three-run home run.

Memphis’ offense scored three runs on seven hits. Ledbetter was 3-for-4. Báez had three RBI.
Ledbetter stole his 18th base. Brody Moore was caught stealing.
Yerzy made a throwing error and was charged with catcher interference.
Memphis is 15-22 in the second half.

Springfield 2 at San Antonio 6
The Double-A Cardinals fell to the Missions in a 6-2 road loss on Friday.
In his Double-A debut, starter Tanner Franklin pitched 4 2/3 innings, gave up two runs, one earned, on five hits, walked two and fanned seven.

Chen-Wei Lin relieved Franklin and surrendered four runs in 3 1/3 innings of relief and took the loss.
San Antonio scored single runs in the first and third innings to lead 2-0.
In the sixth, a solo home run by Rainiel Rodriguez put Springfield on the board.

The Cards tied the game in the seventh. Jack Gurevitch reached on an error. Deniel Ortiz singled. Won-Bin Cho walked. Zach Levenson was hit by a pitch to force Gurevitch in.
The Missions put up four runs in the eighth to go ahead 6-2, which became the final score.
The Cardinals scored two runs on five hits. Rodriguez’s home run was the only extra base hit. The offense was 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.
Ortiz was picked off second base. Tre Richardson was picked off first base. Rodriguez made a throwing error and was tagged for catcher interference.
Springfield is 24-13 in the second half.
Saturday’s game: at San Antonio, Daniel Eagen RHP (5-8, 4.95) vs. Jamie Hitt LHP (1-1, 7.41) 7:05 CT.
The High-A Chiefs blew a big lead but came back to walk off the River Bandits by an 8-6 score at Dozer Park on Friday.
In his first start with Peoria, lefty Cade Crossland pitched four innings, gave up one run on two hits, walked two and fanned four.

Nate Dohm relieved Crossland and surrendered one run in 1 2/3 innings. Ruben Menes threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings. In the ninth, Patrick Galle relinquished four runs, three earned, while collecting just two outs. Bobby Olsen secured the final out and received the win.
Peoria took a 1-0 lead in the second. Michael Dattalo and Ian Petrutz singled. Yordalin Peña singled to score Dattalo.
Quad Cities tied the game in the top of the third.
The Chiefs answered with three runs in the home half of the third to regain the lead 4-1. Sammy Hernandez walked. Brayden Smith reached on a fielder’s choice. Hernandez stole third and Smith stole second. Josh Kross reached on a fielder’s choice as Hernandez scored. Smith was out at third. Dattalo doubled. Petrutz doubled to plate Kross and Dattalo.

The River Bandits cut the lead to 4-2 with a run in the top of the sixth.
Peoria responded in the home sixth with a solo home run by Bissetta, his first as a professional in his first game, to extend the lead to 5-2.

The Chiefs increased the lead to 6-2 in the seventh on a solo home run by Jalin Flores.
In the top of the ninth, Quad Cities rallied for four runs against Galle to tie the game.
Peoria countered in the bottom of the ninth to win in a walk off 8-6. Peña walked, and Hernandez followed with a two-run home run.

The Chiefs scored eight runs on nine hits. Petrutz was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Dattalo was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Hernandez had two RBI and two runs scored.
Hernandez stole his 15th base. Smith swiped his first bag. Peña was caught stealing.
Flores made a fielding error.
The Chiefs are 20-19 in the second half.

The Low-A Cardinals were pounded by the Hammerheads in a 10-2 losson Friday at Roger Dean Stadium.
Starter Gabriel Chinchilla pitched 2 2/3 innings, gave up four runs on six hits, walked one and struck out two. Chinchilla took the loss.
Liam Best relieved Chinchilla and surrendered one run in 1 1/3 innings. In their professional debuts, Jacob Haley and JR Fordham threw two scoreless innings each. Jesús García relinquished five runs, three earned, in the ninth.
Jupiter scored two runs in the first and third innings and one in the fourth to build a 5-0 lead.
Palm Beach was held scoreless until eighth inning, when they scored two. 18-year-old newcomer Alexander Frias singled. Sebastian Dos Santos walked. Miguel Hernández doubled to score Frias. Dos Santos came home on a ground out by Matthew Miura.
The Hammerheads put up five more runs in the ninth to win 10-2.
The Cardinals scored two runs on six hits. Frias was 2-for-4.
Ryan Mitchell stole his 34thbase. Frias swiped his second bag. Frias and Mitchell were each caught stealing.
Cristofer Lebrón made two throwing errors. Mitchell and Hernández both had fielding miscues. Mitchell had an outfield assist at home plate. J.P. Cabrera had a passed ball.
The Cardinals are 19-20 in the second half.

DSL Cardinals 15, DSL NYY Bombers 9
Aided by 13 Bombers wild pitches, the Dominican Cardinals won by a 15-9 score on Friday.
Starter Juan García pitched 4 1/3 innings, gave up two runs on four hits, walked two and struck out two.
Jordan Beltrán relieved García and surrendered two runs in 2/3 of an inning. Brayan Amoroso yielded three runs while also getting just two outs. Kriscol Peralta threw two scoreless innings to earn the win. Domingo Mejía allowed two runs in the final 1 1/3 innings.
The Bombers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
The Cardinals answered with five runs in the home first, helped by the Bombers’ starter’s wildness. Sebastian Rojas doubled. Jhon Franganten walked. Jesús Pérez reached on an error as Rojas and Franganten scored. Pérez advanced to third and scored on two wild pitches. Héctor Cabrera walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Michael Cordero walked. Cabrera went to third on a wild pitch. Roberth Castillo singled to score Cabrera. Cordero came home with the fifth run on the fifth wild pitch of the inning.
The Cardinals added a run in the third to increase the lead to 6-2. Misael Sánchez walked and stole second base. Castillo plated Sánchez on a single.
In the fifth, more Bombers wildness help the Cardinals put up five runs and extend the lead to 11-2. Cabrera reached on an error. Cordero was hit by a pitch. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Cabrera scored on a wild pitch. Cordero went to third then scored on a wild pitch. Castillo walked and went to second on a wild pitch. Christian Sáez walked. Both runners advanced on wild pitches. Carlos Carrión doubled to score Castillo and Sáez. Diego Conseción pinch ran for Carrión. Rojas drove in Conseción on the only hit of the inning, a single.
The Bombers posted a five-run top of the sixth to cut the lead to 11-7.
The Cardinals responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to strengthen the lead to 14-7. Pérez walked. Cabrera singled. The runners advanced on a wild pitch. Sáez blasted a three-run home run.
The Cardinals made it 15-7 in the eighth. Sáez walked and scored on a triple by Conseción.
The Bombers added two runs in the ninth for the final score of 15-9.
The Cardinals scored 15 runs on 10 hits. Castillo was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Rojas was 2-for-6 with an RBI. Sáez had three RBI and three runs scored. Carrión had two RBI. Cabrera scored three runs. Pérez and Cordero each scored twice.
Sánchez stole his fifth base. Rojas made a throwing error. Sánchez had a fielding miscue. García picked a runner off first base
The Cardinals are 23-22 on the season and are in fourth place in the DSL Southeast.
