Cardinals Minor League Notebook – August 10, 2026

The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 3-1 on Sunday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Memphis LHS Ixan Henderson, pitched 4 ⅔ scoreless, no-hit innings in his Triple-A debut. Other standouts: Nolan Gorman, Rainiel Rodriguez, Brayden Smith, José Suárez, Michael Dattalo, Ryan Mitchell and Joseph King.

Memphis Redbirds 7, Nashville Sounds 3

The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds edged the Nashville Sounds in Sunday’s series finale at AutoZone Park.

Activated from the injured list, Ixan Henderson started for the Redbirds in his Triple-A debut. The left-hander threw 4 ⅔ scoreless innings on no hits, four walks, and no strikeouts.

Ryan Fernandez tossed 1 ⅓ shutout frames in relief of Henderson and picked up his fourth win. Cade Winquest followed with a scoreless seventh. Brandt Thompson yielded three runs over the final two innings.

Memphis struck first with a run in the bottom of the first inning. With two outs, Nolan Gorman launched his 11th home run of the year with Memphis, a solo shot.

The Redbirds doubled the lead to 2-0 in the third. Graysen Tarlow and Victor Scott II singled. St. Louis rehabber Ramón Urías followed with a third consecutive single to score Tarlow.

Memphis widened the lead with a four-run fourth frame.

Colton Ledbetter led off the inning with a single. Ledbetter stole second and made third base on a throwing error. Brody Moore singled home Ledbetter for the third run of the game.

Moore swiped second base. Tarlow walked. The runners advanced on a wild pitch. Scott II reached on a fielder’s choice, with Moore coming hime. Gorman legged out an infield single on a ball hit to the pitcher to load the bases. Leo Bernal drove a ball off the wall in right field for a single to plate Tarlow and Scott II and stretch the Memphis lead to 6-0.

The Sounds halved the lead with three runs in the eighth for a 6-3 score.

The Redbirds added an insurance run in the home eighth. Tarlow singled and Scott II walked. Ramon Mendoza lined a double to bring Tarlow in though Scott II was thrown out at home.

The Redbirds recorded five hits with runners in scoring position in the win.

Memphis scored seven runs on 12 hits. Bernal singled for two RBI. Gorman was 2-for-5 with a solo home run. Mendoza doubled and drove in a run. Moore and Scott II both walked, singled, scored, and notched an RBI. Urías logged an RBI single. Tarlow went 2-for-3 with a walk and three runs scored.

On the bases, the Redbirds were active with six steals. Scott II swiped his 14th bag with Memphis. Urías stole his first base in his rehab assignment. Ledbetter recorded his 19th steal. Moore swiped his ninth Triple-A bag. Bernal stole his eighth base. Chase Davis snagged his first steal in Triple-A.

On defense, pitcher Henderson picked a runner off first base to highlight an errorless outing for the Redbirds.

Memphis is 16-23 in the second half and 63-51 overall after the series split with Nashville. They reside in eighth place in the International League West Division. The Redbirds are off Monday and will travel to Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, North Carolina, for a six-game set with the Durham Bulls, starting Tuesday.

Springfield Cardinals 4 at San Antonio Missions 7

The Double-A Springfield Cardinals lost a close series finale to the Missions in San Antonio on Sunday.

Braden Davis made his 21st start for Springfield. The left-hander pitched 3 ⅓ innings and allowed three runs on two hits, four walks, and four strikeouts.

Andrew Schultz secured the final two outs of the fourth inning in relief of Davis. Darlin Saladin struck out two in a shutout fifth. José Davila gave up four unearned runs in the sixth and took the unlucky blown save and loss. Randel Clemente followed with a scoreless seventh. Domenic Picone pitched a shutout eighth frame.

Springfield opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first inning. Tai Peete and Rainiel Rodriguez singled. Jesús Báez lined a third consecutive single to plate Peete.

San Antonio took a 2-1 lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second.

Springfield tied the game in the third. Peete hit his first Double-A triple and scored on a Rodriguez single for a 2-2 game.

The Cardinals regained the lead at 3-2 with a run in the fourth. Deniel Ortiz blasted his fifth home run of the season, a solo shot.

The Missions knotted the game at three in the home half of the fourth.

The Cardinals grabbed their third lead of the contest with a run in the top of the sixth. Ryan Campos was hit by a pitch and stole second base. Dakota Harris legged out an infield single. Won-Bin Cho lined a single to score Campos and put the Cardinals on top 4-3. Cho swiped second base but a Rodriguez groundout left two in scoring position.

San Antonio responded with four runs in the home sixth to jump ahead 7-4. Springfield was unable to answer.

The Cardinals scored four runs on 10 hits. Rodriguez was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Ortiz hit a solo home run. Báez and Cho both singled and drove in a run. Peete went 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored. Campos doubled and scored.

On the basepaths, Campos swiped his 15th bag. Cho stole his fifth in Double-A.

On defense, third baseman Jack Gurevitch made a throwing error.

Springfield is 24-15 in the second half and 55-52 overall after taking just two of six from San Antonio. The Cardinals hold a two-game lead in the Texas League North Division. They are off Monday as they head home to Route 66 Stadium for a six-game series with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, starting Tuesday.

Tuesday’s game: vs. Northwest Arkansas (KC). Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM CT.

Peoria Chiefs 9, Quad Cities River Bandits 8

The High-A Peoria Chiefs won a thriller over the Quad Cities River Bandits at Dozer Park in Sunday’s series finale.

Jacob Odle made his 11th start for Peoria. The right-hander pitched three innings and allowed five runs on four hits, four walks and three strikeouts.

Trey Pooser yielded two runs over two innings in relief of Odle. Bobby Olsen gave up a run with three strikeouts across two frames. Zeke Wood fired a shutout eighth and collected his first High-A win. Nelfy Ynfante threw a scoreless ninth for his first save with Peoria.

Quad Cities struck first with a run in the top of the second inning.

The Chiefs immediately tied the game in the home half of the frame as Cade McGee tripled and scored on a José Suárez double.

The River Bandits scored twice in the third to move ahead 3-1.

The Chiefs took back one run in the home third. Brayden Smith singled and moved to second on a groundout. Yordalin Peña walked. Michael Dattalo lined a single to score Smith and bring the Chiefs within a run at 3-2.

Quad Cities answered with four runs in the fourth to extend their lead to 7-2.

The Chiefs scored three runs in the home fourth to pull to within two. Suárez blooped a single and moved to third base on Alex Birge’s first hit with the Chiefs, a double.

Ian Petrutz ripped a double to score Suárez and Birge and move the Chiefs within three at 7-4. Smith hit a third consecutive double to bring Petrutz home for a 7-5 score.

Quad Cities grabbed an 8-5 lead with a run in the seventh.

Peoria kept the game within two with a run in the home half of the inning. Peña was hit by a pitch and moved up on two wild pitches. McGee walked and Suárez was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Birge legged out an infield single to score Peña and narrow the gap to 8-6.

The Chiefs took a late lead with a three-run bottom of the eighth. Smith struck out swinging, but wound up at second base on a throwing error from the catcher. Smith advanced to third on a groundout and crossed home plate on a Tristan Bissetta single. Bissetta moved to second on a wild pitch and scored the tying run on a double from Peña.

Peña was awarded third on a balk and touched home plate on a Dattalo sacrifice fly to put the Chiefs on to 9-8.

Ynfante created and escaped a jam with runners on the corners in the ninth to seal the win.

The Chiefs scored nine runs on 15 hits. Smith was 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored, and an RBI. Dattalo was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Suárez went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI. Peña walked, doubled, scored a run, and drove in a run. Petrutz doubled, scored a run, and logged two RBI. Birge was 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI. Bissetta singled, scored a run, and notched an RBI. Seven of nine hitters recorded at least one RBI.

The Chiefs did not steal a base.

On defense, catcher Birge made a throwing error.

Peoria is 21-20 in the second half and 53-54 overall after winning two of six over Quad Cities. They are 3.5 games back of first place in the Midwest League West Division. The Chiefs are off Monday and will stay at Dozer Park for a six-game series with the first-place Beloit Sky Carp, starting Tuesday.

Tuesday’s game: vs. Beloit (MIA). Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM CT.

Palm Beach Cardinals 8, Jupiter Hammerheads 4

The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals bested the Jupiter Hammerheads in the final game of the series at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium on Sunday.

Keiverson Ramírez started for the Cardinals. The right-hander pitched 4 ⅓ innings and allowed two runs on five hits, one walk, and no strikeouts.

Justin Militello struck out five over 1 ⅔ scoreless, no-hit innings in relief of Ramírez. Rehabbing Joseph King followed with three strikeouts across two scoreless, no-hit frames and collected the win. Nathan Shinn allowed two runs in the ninth but held on to finish the game.

Jupiter broke the scoreless tie with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth inning.

Palm Beach tied the game at 2-2 in the home sixth. Ryan Mitchell walked and moved to third on a Yairo Padilla double. Mitchell crossed home plate on a wild pitch. Alexander Frias brought Padilla home via a sacrifice fly.

Palm Beach erupted for six runs in the eighth to take the lead. Mitchell singled, Padilla walked, and Frias singled to load the bases. Sebastian Dos Santos grounded a single to bring Mitchell and Padilla home. Miguel Hernández walked to reload the bags. Gabe Camacho was hit by a pitch to force Frias home for a painful RBI. J.P. Cabrera reached on catcher’s interference to bring Dos Santos home. Mitchell lined a single to plate Hernández and Camacho and stretch the lead to 8-2, though Cabrera was out at third base to end the inning.

The Cardinals scored eight runs on six hits. Mitchell was 3-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored, and two RBI. Dos Santos walked, singled, scored, and drove in two. Frias singled, scored, and notched an RBI. Camacho and Cabrera each recorded an RBI, with Camacho’s the first in his professional career. Padilla walked, doubled, and scored twice.

On the bases, Hernández was picked off first base and caught stealing second.

On defense, second baseman Hernández made a throwing error. Frias nailed a runner at home plate from center field. Pitcher Ramírez picked a runner off first base. Catcher Cabrera was charged with a passed ball. Right fielder Mitchell made a stunning catch in the third inning.

Palm Beach is 21-20 in the second half and 54-53 overall.  They reside in second place in the Florida State League East Division, five games behind Daytona. The Cardinals are off Monday as they travel to Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona Beach, Florida, for a seven-game series with the Daytona Tortugas, starting with a doubleheader on Tuesday.

Tuesday’s games: at Daytona (CIN). Pitching probables have not yet been announced for either game. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 3:30 PM CT. Game two is slated to start at 5:35 PM CT.

DSL Cardinals (off day)

The Dominican Summer League Cardinals were off Sunday, as they prepared for a home contest with the DSL NYY Yankees on Monday.

The Cardinals enter the week following a 14-7 victory over DSL Miami on Saturday.

The DSL Cardinals are 24-22 on the season.

Monday’s game: vs. DSL NYY Yankees. Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 10:00 AM CT.
