The St. Louis Cardinals system was 0-1 on Saturday. For the second consecutive night, The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day Luken Baker went deep. The first baseman blasted a go-ahead two-run shot in Memphis’ narrow loss.

The Memphis Redbirds (1-1) were walked off by the Charlotte Knights (CWS, 1-1) on Saturday night at Truist Field.
Starter Dakota Hudson tossed five innings and surrendered three runs on six hits and three walks. Following Hudson, Andrew Suárez, Génesis Cabrera and Jake Walsh threw a scoreless inning each.
All four Memphis runs came in the fourth inning. Moisés Gómez doubled to score Kramer Robertson. Luken Baker hit a two-run homer to make the score 3-2. Scott Hurst added one more after Oscar Mercado singled and stole second.
It may be too soon to call it, but Luken Baker is on pace to hit 150 homeruns this season.

The Knights brought across a run in the bottom half of the fourth but the Redbirds still had the lead until the ninth inning. In his Memphis debut, Guillermo Zuñiga gave up a double and a home run as the home club walked off the win.
The Redbirds’ lineup had five hits, four walks and went 2-for-5 with runners in scoring position. Tres Barrera collected his first hit for the Redbirds. Baker blasted his second home run in two games.
Hurst and Mercado both stole their second bags of the season.
