Results from the game played Monday, April 11th.

After taking their opening set over Northwest Arkansas two games to one at home, the Springfield Cardinals (2-2) took to the road for the first time in 2022. On Monday, they lost 4-3 to the Arkansas Travelers (2-2, SEA) at Dickey-Stephens Park in Little Rock.
The Cardinals held a 3-1 lead midway through the sixth but couldn’t maintain the edge in the late innings.
In his 2022 debut, Springfleld starter Domingo Robles pitched four plus innings, yielding one run on six hits and two walks. The lefty fanned two. After yielding a leadoff single in the fifth and having thrown 80 pitches, Robles was replaced by Grant Black, who finished the inning without incident.
The Cardinals plated two in the fourth inning and another in the fifth to take the lead. In the fourth, Matt Koperniak had an RBI single and Nick Dunn drew a bases-loaded walk.
In the fifth, Chase Pinder walked and was replaced on the bases by Delvin Perez when the latter grounded into a force play. Perez moved up on Jordan Walker’s free pass and the two advanced on a double steal. Perez then scampered home on a throwing error by the Travelers’ catcher.
In the sixth, Black ran into trouble. A walk and two singles brought one Traveler home. A fielder’s choice and throwing error by second baseman Dunn allowed the second run of the inning for the home team. With the score tied at three apiece, Black buckled down and fanned the next two batters.
With Black out for his fourth inning, the eighth, he yielded a leadoff single. With two out, this triple put Arkansas in the lead for good.

Freddy Pacheco secured the final out of the eighth before Springfield threatened with two runners on base in the top of the ninth. However, Todd Lott fanned swinging to end the game.
Black took the loss, his second of the young season. The right-hander was charged with three runs, all earned, in 3 2/3 innings on four hits and two walks. Black fanned six.
Springfield hitters took seven walks on the night but collected just three hits, all singles, and struck out 12 times against five Travelers pitchers. The S-Cards were just 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position and stranded 10 baserunners.
Number two batter Perez singled and walked, stole a base and scored two of Springfield’s three runs. The shortstop also committed a fielding error, his fourth miscue in four games but also had this gem.
