The Salt River Rafters lost to the Mesa Solar Sox on Friday. Masyn Winn singled, walked and scored. Ryan Loutos pitched two innings and took the loss. Mike Antico and Pedro Pages appeared late.
Results from the Arizona Fall League game played Friday, October 7.

Salt River Rafters 3, Mesa Solar Sox 6 (seven innings)
Four Cardinals saw action in Friday night’s loss to Mesa. Only Masyn Winn started with Mike Antico and Pedro Pages coming in late in the game. Antico pinch ran for the starting catcher and then played in center. Pedro Pages replaced the starting catcher for the final inning.
Winn hit second in the lineup and played shortstop for Salt River. In his first plate appearance, he drew a four-pitch walk. His second at bat in the third was a single and he took second on the throw to third. Winn later scored. His third outing at the plate ended in a pop out to shallow right field. His final plate appearance ended the game with a strikeout swinging.
Ryan Loutos pitched the sixth and seventh for the Rafters and took the loss, his first. He delivered a scoreless sixth but gave up three runs in the seventh on a balk and a two-run single. The single was a grounder to Winn that went under his glove as he attempted the backhanded grab. The play was ruled a single rather than an error on Winn. This was the second similar play in the game, and both were ruled hits.
Mike Antico pinch ran in the sixth for the Rafters catcher and was immediately caught stealing. Pedro Pages came in to catch in the seventh. Antico stayed in the game to play center field. Neither player made a plate appearance.
The Rafters are winless thus far in this first week of the AFL season.
Saturday’s game: vs. Surprise Saguaros, TBA (Salt River) vs. Quinn Priester (PIT) 5:05 CT.
