The Glendale Desert Dogs fell to 9-7 with Saturday’s home loss to Mesa. Cardinals designated hitter Leonardo Bernal walked twice in three plate appearances.

Glendale Golden Dogs 4, Mesa Solar Sox 5 (7 innings)
The Glendale Golden Dogs (9-7) failed to complete a comeback, ending their two-run final inning with the bases loaded, resulting in a 5-4 loss to the Mesa Solar Sox (10-6) in seven innings on Saturday at Camelback Ranch.
Leonardo Bernal was the only St. Louis Cardinals prospect who played on Saturday, hitting 0-for-1 with two walks as the designated hitter.
Bernal walked in the third and was picked off during the next at-bat. He flied out to the right fielder in the fifth and walked in the seventh before being replaced by a pinch-runner.
Defensively, Bernal threw out his only attempted base stealer.
