Cardinals Arizona Fall League Notebook – November 10, 2022

The Salt River Rafters beat the Scottsdale Scorpions on Wednesday. Pedro Pages was 3-for-3 with a run scored and Mike Antico was 0-for-5 with an RBI. Starter Connor Thomas gave up two runs, one earned, on two hits in three innings. Out of the pen, Kyle Leahy threw two scoreless innings and Ryan Loutos one.

Five St. Louis Cardinals saw action in Wednesday’s Salt River win.

Mike Antico hit leadoff and played in center field. In the first inning he struck out looking. Antico grounded into a double play in the third inning.

In the fifth, Antico flew out to center field. He struck out swinging in the seventh. In the ninth, Antico grounded out to second, driving in Pages for the Rafters’ fourth and final run.

Pedro Pages was the catcher and hit seventh. In his first plate appearance in the second inning, he singled to right field but was left stranded. Pages singled to left field in the fourth but again was left on base.

Pages led off the seventh with a walk but was eliminated in a double play. In the ninth, he hit his third single of the game, a line drive to center field. Pages later scored on a ground out to second by teammate Antico.

Starter Connor Thomas yielded two runs, one earned, on two hits in three innings pitched. The lefty induced three ground outs in the first inning. In the second, he struck out one and got the other outs on a line out and a ground out.

In his final inning, Thomas gave up two doubles and a walk. One run scored on the second double and the second run scored on a fielder’s choice ground out. Thomas struck out the final two batters.

Kyle Leahy came in to pitch the fifth. He got three outs on a fly out, a strikeout, and a ground out. He returned to pitch the sixth. Leahy got the first out on a ground out. He then gave up a single. He struck out the next hitter but then issued a walk. With two men on, Leahy struck out the next hitter for the final out.

Ryan Loutos pitched the seventh. He secured three outs in succession on a strikeout, fly out, and a ground out.

Salt River is 12-17 on the season with one game remaining. They are eliminated from playoff qualification..
