The St. Louis Cardinals concluded two camps for minor leaguers on Friday, April 30 – their Minor League Spring Training Camp in Jupiter, Florida and their Alternate Site in Sauget, Illinois.

The majority of the players from the latter site are moving south to form the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds with many of the later-arriving Florida players staffing the rosters of Double-A Springfield, High-A Peoria and Low-A Palm Beach.

All four full-season minor league clubs officially open play on Tuesday, May 4.

Memphis features 10 members of The Cardinal Nation’s 2021 Top 50 Prospect List, including three who placed in the top 10. All are pitchers – Matthew Liberatore, Zack Thompson and Angel Rondon.

Among the 11 top prospects at Springfield are the consensus top two position player prospects in the system, second-third baseman Nolan Gorman and catcher Ivan Herrera.

Iván Herrera

High-A Peoria is led by a pair of young, high potential hitters making a big jump in competition – third baseman Malcom Nuñez and outfielder Jhon Torres. Both had been given a taste of then-Low-A Peoria in May 2019, but struggled and spent that summer at Rookie-level Johnson City.

Low-A Palm Beach features two top 2020 draftees making their professional debuts. Both third baseman Jordan Walker and shortstop-pitcher Masyn Winn are top 10 prospects in the system.
