7:15 p.m. RHP Jack Flaherty (8-8, 3.08) vs. RHP Chase Anderson (9-8, 3.93) FOX Sports Midwest/MLB Network/KMOX
September 23, 2018 at 4:54 pm #70432#Brewers are skipping Chase Anderson’s start against the #STLCards on Monday. It will be a bullpen game. Unclear who will start, but it won’t be Josh Hader, manager Craig Counsell said.

September 23, 2018 at 9:19 pm #70441Sounds like an evil genius trick.
September 23, 2018 at 11:44 pm #70448It is unfortunate that the Cubs and Brewers are fighting it out for the Division championship. That means that they will throw every resource against the Cardinals while the Phillies and Nationals will be much less motivated against Colorado. Not that the Cubs or Brewers would back off against the Cardinals in any event.

stlcard25ParticipantIt would be nice if Colorado could lose a few games. Their +1 run differential suggests that their luck should run out any day now.
As for the Cards, seems like the Cards have hit Anderson well so it would have been nice to face him. Hopefully the Cards can score off the Brewer bullpen and Jack has a good outing.

ParticipantIs Anderson going to miss the entire series or start on Tuesday or Wed.?
September 24, 2018 at 2:14 pm #70506Anderson might appear tonight. Reading this literally, Jennings will only get one out (thought it was probably not intended to read that way).
Tonight’s initial out getter in St. Louis will be Dan Jennings. It will be his first Major League start after 381 career relief appearances. pic.twitter.com/5PDu60lrpF

Participant1. Matt Carpenter (L) – 1B
2. Jose Martinez (R) – RF
3. Paul DeJong (R) – SS
4. Marcell Ozuna (R) – LF
5. Jedd Gyorko (R) – 3B
6. Yadier Molina (R) – C
7. Harrison Bader (R) – CF
8. Yairo Munoz (R) – 2B
9. Jack Flaherty (R) – PSeptember 24, 2018 at 5:07 pm #70531PadsFS
ParticipantI would much rather have O’Neill in RF, Martinez at 1B, Carpenter at 3B, and Gyorko at 2B when Kolten Wong is out.
Defensively O’Neill > Martinez and Gyorko > Munoz is worth Carpenter < Gyorko and Martinez < Carpenter and, offensively, O’Neill > Munoz.

ParticipantMartinez is better in RF than at 1B. Still I agree O’Neill should be playing but he won’t because Martinez is a butcher at 1B and Munoz needs all the help he can get.
September 24, 2018 at 5:39 pm #70534Why isn’t Bader batting higher against the lefty? Where his numbers are better. I mean I guess he could hit the 7th spot in the order but It’s likely they may not face each other if this is a 1 inning outing.
September 24, 2018 at 5:48 pm #70536Flaherty has dominated the Brewers this season: 3 starts, 18 IP, 2 ER, 29 Ks.
September 24, 2018 at 7:19 pm #70550At the game tonight. Place is rockin’! Now need Yelich to DP after hit by Cain.
September 24, 2018 at 7:22 pm #70552What did I tell ya? Good start w/5-4-3 DP.
September 24, 2018 at 7:28 pm #70554Plenty of time for a cold drink, CRS4E. The Brewers are on track to use 27 pitchers in this game.
P.S. I checked and they have “just” 19!
September 24, 2018 at 7:30 pm #70555Lol! Councell uses Jennings for Carp only!
September 24, 2018 at 7:32 pm #70556Way to take one DeJong
September 24, 2018 at 7:32 pm #70557Yes, already burned one pitcher. I’m ok with that!
September 24, 2018 at 7:40 pm #70558NJ315
ParticipantBraun homers 1-0 Brewers
September 24, 2018 at 8:00 pm #70561Jack pitching ok, but not lights out. Got Yelich twice,so can’t complain.
September 24, 2018 at 8:07 pm #70563Carp doubles in Munoz. Tie game.
September 24, 2018 at 8:27 pm #70566Jack’s last at bat was interesting too. Clearly didn’t want to bunt on 3rd strike, but Owuendo told him to. Jack threw up his hand in frustration because he wanted to swing away. Don’t know if they caught that on camera.
September 24, 2018 at 8:32 pm #70567NJ315
ParticipantNice catch by Martinez. Did not panic and kept the eyes on the ball.
September 24, 2018 at 8:38 pm #70568NJ315
ParticipantPitch count up to 78 for Flaherty after 5.
September 24, 2018 at 8:46 pm #70569NJ315
ParticipantAll these pitching changes are making me sleepy.
