You realize San Francisco has a better record than the Cardinals?

IMO i think Schrock needs a bit more seasoning…and his bat has cooled…but he coudl really push going into next year…i like contact bats

If you go for a defensive first team Wong has to be in it…regardless of the bat…he is GG leader at 2b IMO…that does count for something…saving runs instead of producing them isnt flashy but still works…plus his bat has shown last year to be good when it is going…i dont give up on him if defense is important

as for moving Pham…we COULD do that…but i think that might actually be selling TOO low on him…and his upside value both offensively and defensively is tough to project anyone else being able to match

i dont like his attitude a lot but selling low on him isnt worth it…and as much as i like Oneill, Bader, MErcado Aroazarena…none of them have done anythign at the major league level to prove they can provide the kind of value Pham can…i might be willing to roll the dice on 2 of the 4 working out…but believing that 3-4 of them can do it seems to big a gamble…we have seen plenty of young OFers in our system look good and not pan out whether with us or with other teams…

I’d rather trade Oneill because his value is so high right now than trade Pham if we are looking to get good value in a trade

still we have the pieces to make bold moves that change the identity of the team back to what people expect…speed, and defense with solid pitching… the fans cry for it all the time…and when they get it at the expense of power they cry for power….but lack of defense especially ets bigger boos IMO and creates more uncertainty and disdain that the HR hitting excitement… I mean Mark Reynolds hit HRs…and they were nice and all but i think a guy like So Taguchi and Pete Kozma still are more beloved… WS victories help with that of course but i think the point is still in there

Jager-why trade a 23 year OF with improving plate discipline and good power ? Smart move is to trade Pham now…i dont buy the Pham Value BS............He is replaceable.It is crazy nonsense to even think about trading the best power bat in the system and keeping a overrated arrogant loudmouth jackleg Pham.You dont build for the future with 30 year old injury prone/eye issues players .As for speed and defense…You have Oscar Mercado at AAA…….you have Tyler ONeill who can run and plays better defense than Dexter Do-nothing Fowler and Bader plays defense better than most.A Outfield of Ozuna,Bader,Oneill,Mercad gives you speed and defense with some pop from Ozuna and O`Neill with Bader.Sometimes you have to long farther than the end of your nose when you look ahead.Pham is NOT the future.

When a guy puts together a year like Pham did last year and a beginning of this year like he did..you don;t just sell him for nothign..aND sell him at the bottom of his value at that… look how long we held onto Grichuk just in the hopes he would figure it out…

the more adamant people try to find reasons to trade him only shows their desperation at justifying their bias against him

He could be a one hit wonder, but he could also rebound to be a solid to very good player that can provide cheap value

i agree that his defense has been suspect in CF..and i think Bader is them an for that position should we give Bader a more permanent starting role…we just have to deal with the ego of the Pham at that point…and whether anyone cares or not, that does matter….not to mention I wonder how it may affect his vision…i feel like you see and hear about more problems from the corner outfielders in “losing it in the lights” than CF….perhaps CF is the best place for him in his eye condition…it’s not like he is terrible out there…he is far from the guy who is farthest out of position on the team…and BAder’s arm plays well in RF too…

as for the Nationals…. it’s not just that no one is talking about them selling… it’s also about no one saying they are out of it despite them making moves…they are fighting for the same spot in the wildcard hunt we are at this point…and we haev the same record…. and if you want to attack that records arent that important, then we can go back to the beginning of the argument and shut it down…

It’s July…records only start to matter now…Cubs and Brewers havent separated at all and lost some pretty embarrassing games recently as well

we split MIL at MIL….we swept the Cubs last time out…we hold a 9-1 edge on the Reds so far… we are playing our division pretty well and trying to stay afloat while slumps happen and guys return from injury..

maybe as hake up starting with Cecil and Fowler getting the boot…followed with Mabry might put a jolt into the club…find a thumper somewhere to add in for the stretch to go with returning bullpen arms, DeJong and Wacha/Waino, along with a few kids and we might just have enough momentum to make some noise

we will see though

gonna be a tough series IMO both teams coming off ugly series and both wanting to right their ships

Only Matheny would bat a player off the Memphis bus 3rd.

If the offense wants to pad it’s stats then this is the series to do it. Now if they win 2 of 3 is anyone’s guess in doing so.

And why would you love having someone hitting 3rd that’s striking out about 30% of the time in the minor leagues? This equates to, more than likely, about 40% of the time in the big leagues. The only question is whether O’Neill will strike out once or twice tonight.
