12:10 p.m. RHP Miles Mikolas (5-0, 2.51) vs. RHP Lance Lynn (1-3, 7.34) FOX Sports Midwest/KMOX

stlcard25ParticipantLynn had some words for the Cards in his interview yesterday. He sounds bitter. Hopefully that pent up anger will work as a negative for him today, because St Louis badly needs a win. The way this lineup has played, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them get shut out though.

ParticipantPham CF
Martinez DH
DeJong SS
Ozuna LF
Fowler RF
Gyorko 3B
Carpenter 1B
Pena C
Garcia 2BGregerson (right shoulder impingement) to DL Brebbia up
May 16, 2018 at 10:15 am #52603How long before O’Neill forces his way back up? Of course I don’t know who would go back down. I guess it would have to be a reliever since Fowler and Bader probably aren’t going anywhere.
May 16, 2018 at 10:21 am #52605Carpenter and Fowler both in the lineup, along with Pena. There’s pretty much three automatic outs.

ParticipantBench = Wong-Kelly-Bader. Probably all three of these should be starting. Like Rats says we’re playing with one arm tied behind our backs. This team can’t possibly be successful playing with that handicap. The guys with the lowest averages in the majors simply aren’t going to help. If management is waiting for some sort of epiphany from the losers: get real! The miraculous turn-arounds ain’t coming soon, if ever.
May 16, 2018 at 10:52 am #52608A line-up of Fowler, Carp, Garcia and Pena? What in hell is this garbage?
May 16, 2018 at 10:56 am #5261014NyquisT
ParticipantHey….. GGarcia is still MLB-worthy.
BHC, have fun watching the garbage lineup. The game promises to be exciting.
May 16, 2018 at 11:05 am #52611Why is Ozuna still hitting cleanup?
May 16, 2018 at 11:07 am #52612
stlcard25ParticipantI guess Kelly doesn’t get the benefit of the “good game, gets the next start” treatment like others on the team. He gets pinch hit for despite having probably the best at bats on the team last night, then benched today.
It’ll be nice to score 2 runs today but I’m not holding my breath.
May 16, 2018 at 11:41 am #52614At least we don’t have to hear any more silly comments like “Hey why are you complaining about a first place team?”
May 16, 2018 at 12:18 pm #52617
stlcard25ParticipantHow bout dat…two base runners in the first two batters. Now to get some runners in!
May 16, 2018 at 12:24 pm #52618
stlcard25ParticipantAfter the Lynn wild pitch puts men on 2nd and 3rd with none out… Dejong strikes out swinging and Ozuna can’t even swing the bat, striking out on with three called strikes.
May 16, 2018 at 12:27 pm #52620DeJong swung at pitch up and in…clearly off the plate but hey lets flail away. The strikes on Ozuna were clearly strikes.
Thankfully, Sexy Dexy comes through the 2 rbi single.
The #STLCards need to spend less time worrying about umpires' calls and more time worrying about their swings and approaches. There, I've said it.

stlcard25ParticipantGood insight by Saxon. It has to be at least partially mental at this point.
Good on Dex for coming through. Had to get at least a run out of that.
May 16, 2018 at 12:40 pm #52622
stlcard25ParticipantLizard King handing the lead right back. One run in and runners on first and third with one out. Blech
May 16, 2018 at 12:48 pm #52625Love those classic Twins uni’s. Makes me think of Harmon Killebrew, Tony Oliva, Jimmie Hall…Lance Lynn (what, Lance Lynn???)
May 16, 2018 at 12:58 pm #52630
stlcard25ParticipantHow many times has Ozuna hit with the bases loaded this year? It seems like a lot, and he’s not come through a lot. Now’s your chance to make us forget that, Marcell…
May 16, 2018 at 12:59 pm #52631NJ315
ParticipantLynn is really bad
May 16, 2018 at 12:59 pm #52632Lynn must have been pumped to face his old team today, especially with the comments he recently made.
May 16, 2018 at 1:02 pm #52633And Ozuna flies out to center with the bases loaded to end the Cards threat. Ozuna really needs to get going. Yes its 3-1 but it should be far better than that and that makes my stomach hurl.
May 16, 2018 at 1:05 pm #52634I was a little surprised Lynn did not take the $17.5M QO. A longer term deal is more security obviously, but he had to know no one was going to pay him $17.5M per year. So you tske the high salary for a year, invest well, and see what you can get on a 2 or 3 year deal after this season.
May 16, 2018 at 1:08 pm #52636Wow, great play by Gyorko!
May 16, 2018 at 1:09 pm #52637The market changed and Lynn was caught in it. I don’t think anyone predicted that.
In just one of many examples, just two years before, Mike Leake got five years, $80 million.
(Here is the link to an interesting three page thread about Lynn when he was not traded last July.)
P.S. All nine MLB impending free agents who received a qualifying offer last fall turned it down.
May 16, 2018 at 1:18 pm #52638Angel Hernandez sucks at his job. One of the worst Umps in the game.
The Twins scouting department is putting the Cardinals to shame right now. The Twins were have been much better prepared for these games than the Cards.
