Lynn had some words for the Cards in his interview yesterday. He sounds bitter. Hopefully that pent up anger will work as a negative for him today, because St Louis badly needs a win. The way this lineup has played, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them get shut out though.

How long before O’Neill forces his way back up? Of course I don’t know who would go back down. I guess it would have to be a reliever since Fowler and Bader probably aren’t going anywhere.

Carpenter and Fowler both in the lineup, along with Pena. There’s pretty much three automatic outs.

Bench = Wong-Kelly-Bader. Probably all three of these should be starting. Like Rats says we’re playing with one arm tied behind our backs. This team can’t possibly be successful playing with that handicap. The guys with the lowest averages in the majors simply aren’t going to help. If management is waiting for some sort of epiphany from the losers: get real! The miraculous turn-arounds ain’t coming soon, if ever.

A line-up of Fowler, Carp, Garcia and Pena? What in hell is this garbage?

    Hey….. GGarcia is still MLB-worthy.

BHC, have fun watching the garbage lineup. The game promises to be exciting.

Why is Ozuna still hitting cleanup?

I guess Kelly doesn’t get the benefit of the “good game, gets the next start” treatment like others on the team. He gets pinch hit for despite having probably the best at bats on the team last night, then benched today.

It’ll be nice to score 2 runs today but I’m not holding my breath.

At least we don’t have to hear any more silly comments like “Hey why are you complaining about a first place team?”

How bout dat…two base runners in the first two batters. Now to get some runners in!

After the Lynn wild pitch puts men on 2nd and 3rd with none out… Dejong strikes out swinging and Ozuna can’t even swing the bat, striking out on with three called strikes.

DeJong swung at pitch up and in…clearly off the plate but hey lets flail away. The strikes on Ozuna were clearly strikes.

Thankfully, Sexy Dexy comes through the 2 rbi single.

Good insight by Saxon. It has to be at least partially mental at this point.

Good on Dex for coming through. Had to get at least a run out of that.

Lizard King handing the lead right back. One run in and runners on first and third with one out. Blech

Love those classic Twins uni’s. Makes me think of Harmon Killebrew, Tony Oliva, Jimmie Hall…Lance Lynn (what, Lance Lynn???)

How many times has Ozuna hit with the bases loaded this year? It seems like a lot, and he’s not come through a lot. Now’s your chance to make us forget that, Marcell…

Lynn must have been pumped to face his old team today, especially with the comments he recently made.

And Ozuna flies out to center with the bases loaded to end the Cards threat. Ozuna really needs to get going. Yes its 3-1 but it should be far better than that and that makes my stomach hurl.

I was a little surprised Lynn did not take the $17.5M QO. A longer term deal is more security obviously, but he had to know no one was going to pay him $17.5M per year. So you tske the high salary for a year, invest well, and see what you can get on a 2 or 3 year deal after this season.

The market changed and Lynn was caught in it. I don’t think anyone predicted that.

In just one of many examples, just two years before, Mike Leake got five years, $80 million.

(Here is the link to an interesting three page thread about Lynn when he was not traded last July.)

P.S. All nine MLB impending free agents who received a qualifying offer last fall turned it down.

Angel Hernandez sucks at his job. One of the worst Umps in the game.

The Twins scouting department is putting the Cardinals to shame right now. The Twins were have been much better prepared for these games than the Cards.
