Cool to have the back to back national TV games. Gant has some pressure on him with the bullpen being well used last night. Hopefully the offense can put up some runs and Gant gives us six solid innings, but most importantly…get us to six straight wins.

Might this be one of those games where Gant gets told he’s got to give us innings since the bullpen has been used so much the last couple of games?

Who’s our long man heading into the game tonight? Any call-ups today?

Who gets sent down to make room for Gant? And like Rat said, can we call someone else up to give us some bullpen innings? It was a heck of a weekend but it really took a toll on the roster.

I’d assume Mayers is sent down for Gant, leaving 8 relievers.

Norris is unavailable due to injuries.
Lyons is unavailable due to pitching in 3 straight.
Tuivailala is unavailable due to the 2 inning outing Sunday.

Hicks and Holland are likely unavailable due to pitching back-to-back the last two games.

Gregerson is available after pitching just 2/3 of an inning Sunday and not pitching Saturday.

Sherriff and Bowman are available after not pitching Sunday.

If all those guys are truly unavailable I make a move for Brebbia – except he threw 20 pitches last night. Gonzalez or Greene anyone?

Assuming they dont DL Norris. I’d assume Mayers is sent down.

My guess is Bowman is the long man.

Gonzalez is on the AAA DL.

Greene started yesterday for Sgf and walked seven over 3 2/3 innings.

Too bad our fast ball hitters are not going to get a shot at Lance Lynn. He is 1-3 with a 7.28 ERA for the Twinkies so far this season.

Gant scuffling in the first. A walk, passed ball, two doubles…2-0 Twins already.

32 pitches in the first. That’s not a good sign for the tired bullpen.

Fowler’s drive gets pulled in on a great play by the LF, robbing the Cards of a run, maybe two.

The home plate ump strike zone sucks!!

Little better second for Gant. Getting at least 5 and preferably 6 innings from him would be huge.

As for the Twins starter, he’s got some velocity but a few mistakes with the sinker and I think the Cards can get him for 3-4 runs, maybe more.

Dejong gets stranded after the double. He’s looking better swinging…and not swinging… lately.

Romero now with 6 Ks. Gant has settled in too…going to need more timely hits since they’ve all been spread out thus far tonight.

And with that, Gant is in trouble again. First and third with one out.

Sac fly for the Twins 3-0 lead.

Two on with two out, and Fowler…pops out to RF. Hero last night or not…he should probably not be hitting in the third spot until that average comes up.

Twins have themselves a very good pitcher in Romero. 2 games (10.2 IP) and he has a 0.00 ERA. Pretty impressive.

Bullpen really needed Gant to get this 6th inning completed. *sigh*

Bowman’s in the game now. Twins up 4-0 with runner on 2B.

If I’m the Cards I’m letting Bowman be the sacrificial lamb. Unless they can score to make it a closer game I’m putting him out there for 2+ innings even if he’s awful.

Bowman gets the job done and we head to the bottom of the 6th. Offense needs to show up.

Really not a good performance by the offense. Romero is an ok prospect but it’s not like he’s been dominating the minors.
