After Monday’s day off…
7:15 p.m. RHP Michael Wacha (4-1, 3.62) vs. RHP James Shields (1-3, 6.14) FOX Sports Midwest/KMOX
April 29, 2018 at 10:02 pm #50550I believe this team needs a day off.
April 30, 2018 at 6:21 am #50552Our prayers have been answered! This upcoming series vs the downtrodden ChiSox promises to be just the remedy to get this flailing Redbird club right back on track. If we can’t have the Reds then the White Sox are the next best thing. And the Cards get the Sox just where you’d want to get them….. on THEIR home field. Believe it or not, the White Sox at 2-10, have even a more dismal home field record than the Reds. Looking forward past this series, after the other Chicago team comes into St. Louis to shut us down for 3 games, our bumbling Birds then are fortunate enough to play the next 8 games vs the lowly Twins, who just got drilled at home this past weekend 2-3 games to the Reds by a combined score of 24-14 and then the always beatable San Diego Padres. Other goodies are coming compliments of a most favorable schedule…. the ChiSox come back for more punishment in a series in St. Louis. Our Cards also get treated to the likes of lame teams such as Miami, the Royals, the Pads again….and get this….a whole bunch more games vs Cincinnati.
April 30, 2018 at 9:24 am #50563Not sure what you meant there but to clarify the upcoming two games against the Sox are in St. Louis.
April 30, 2018 at 9:53 am #50571I think it is time to tweak the lineup. I would go with:
CF Pham
SS DeJong
1B Martinez
LF Ozuna
3B Gyroko
C Molina
RF Fowler
2B Carpenter/Wong
PApril 30, 2018 at 9:20 pm #50622Ok…guess we’re playing the ChiSox at home. Really makes little difference as there’s 2 teams that we can beat at home, on the road, Flagstaff…anywhere. And the White Sox are one of these teams. Getting on to the state of affairs….drastic times calls for drastic measures. Wong as the starting 2nd baseman just isn’t working. The man is a utilityman…period. Max Schrock is just the spark plug we need. Get him up here now! The man is twice the hitter that Wong could ever hope to be. Fowler needs to go. Carpenter isn’t ready to be put out to pasture yet, but let’s either put him on the DL or just regulate him to a pinch hitting/DH role until he’s physically ready to play the field properly. I’d try this:
1. Pham (CF)
2. Schrock (2B)
3. Martinez (1B)
4. DeJong (SS)
5. Ozuna (LF)
6. Yadi (C)
7. Gyroko (3B)
8. Fowler….for now. (RF)April 30, 2018 at 10:01 pm #50623If Fowler needs to go, put Bader in his place. Fowler will be demanding a trade by the deadline.
May 1, 2018 at 10:46 am #50655Pugs, I agree with you about Schrock. He needs to be called up eventually. Maybe he will develop into our version of Altuve.
But until then I think we need to focus on shoring up our defense. That means Yadi, Wong, DeJong, Gyroko, Ozuna, and Pham should play EVERYDAY. That leaves 1B and RF. Some kind of timeshare of Carp, JMart, Fowler, and Bader to take care of those two positions.
May 1, 2018 at 11:14 am #506561. Pham – CF
2. Martinez – RF
3. Ozuna – LF
4. DeJong – SS
5. Gyorko – 3B
6. Molina – C
7. Carpenter – 1B
8. Wong/Garcia – 2BWong needs to go, but play him until a taker can be found and then put Schrock in there. Bader or Fowler can be a defensive replacement for Martinez. I still think I’d trade Martinez while I can. The OF depth is there to let it happen. Carpenter needs to be at 1B, Gyorko has to play every day. If Carp gets going then he can go back to 1 or 2 and Pham at the other.
May 1, 2018 at 11:39 am #50659Not sure why you want a Strike out KING in the 2 whole Scottar?
May 1, 2018 at 1:06 pm #50660Wasn’t it a theory a guy in the 2 hole who was a flyball hitter and K’d a lot elimanted a lot of a risk for a double play?
May 1, 2018 at 3:27 pm #50663Not sure why you want a Strike out KING in the 2 whole Scottar?
Who else do we have? Someone hitting .150?
May 1, 2018 at 4:00 pm #50665Luke Voit up. Mike Mayers down.
May 1, 2018 at 4:12 pm #50666Dumb. Let’s just add more of a cluster to 1B for Matheny to try to figure out. Or maybe it means Martinez is moving to RF.
May 1, 2018 at 4:20 pm #50668The idea that Luke Voit is your late inning defensive replacement at 1B is really scary.
May 1, 2018 at 5:42 pm #50669Tonight’s lineup:
1. Tommy Pham (R) CF
2. Matt Carpenter (L) 3B
3. Jose Martinez (R) 1B
4. Marcell Ozuna (R) LF
5. Yadier Molina (R) C
6. Dexter Fowler (S) RF
7. Paul DeJong (R) SS
8. Kolten Wong (L) 2B
9. Michael Wacha (R) PMay 1, 2018 at 6:04 pm #50673What did Voit do to deserve a call up?
May 1, 2018 at 7:08 pm #50674
jj-cf-stlParticipantonyx,
considering pauls wRC+ is exactly double of Matts (hitting 2nd tonight), i’d side w scottars choice over Mathenys.May 1, 2018 at 7:16 pm #50676Is Gyrko healthy or not?
May 1, 2018 at 7:30 pm #50678
jj-cf-stlParticipantWham-Bam-Thank-You-Pham!
May 1, 2018 at 7:57 pm #50684Do you think Dan will get roasted and criticized over his comment about the white sox trainer who’s been there 40 years in the aftermath of the BPV shooting? When he heard that he’d been there that long he responded ” so he knows where the bodies are buried.”
May 1, 2018 at 8:22 pm #50690This pitching on this team is a major concern at this point.
May 1, 2018 at 8:24 pm #50691When your team is winning the game but it feels like they are losing ……
May 1, 2018 at 8:28 pm #50692yeah, im done with ozuna…he misplayed that ball, its not an accident, not the first, not the last
May 1, 2018 at 8:28 pm #50693Well there you go Carioca!
Is Ozuna really a gold glove LF’er? He’s flat out misplayed a couple of balls this season badly.
